When we start decorating a house or apartment, it is often when arrangement of the children’s room most questions arise.

Of course, we have our own vision of what the child’s room should be, but it is necessary not only to take into account the opinion of the small owner of the room, but also to make it a priority in this matter. Let this corner of your house become his personal space for self-expression, so that he would be pleased and comfortable to live there.

It is no coincidence that the word “nursery” is in quotation marks, because we are talking about a room not for a baby, but for an already conscious person, a teenager who has his own interests and preferences. It is important not to forget that your child is already a young person, at this age he absorbs all the information like a sponge and often learns about new cultural trends even faster than you. Therefore, his own room should be such that he can freely realize his ideas and draw inspiration from it, and also be able to invite guests to his place and spend time with them in an environment conducive to this.

One of the main tips is not to follow stereotypes and make bright differences in the interiors for boys and girls, but be based on the personality of the child.

Your main task as an adult is to take care of the functionality of the room. Think over a comfortable workplace with a table and an armchair that will set you up for study and creativity, contain the required number of shelves and drawers. A very important element is the bed: let the child choose any design that he likes, but make sure that the length matches his height, and the mattress is comfortable and takes into account orthopedic features. You can also participate in the stylistic design of the room, but not dictating your own rules, but gently guiding.

Together, choose a few bright expressive objects so that the room acquires its own identity and the child has something to surprise his friends with. Various textures are welcome. For example, a desk top can be glass or even leather. Bookshelves can be built from metal pipes or other structures.

Develop the child’s taste, showing that it is not necessary to stop at a momentary decision, you can consider various options and choose from them you like. Try to turn the selection of a harmonious combination of objects into an exciting game, discuss why this or that element is most suitable. Be prepared for the fact that the preferences of the little owner may change very soon and he will ask for changes. Therefore, you should not buy too expensive furniture, but you can’t save on the quality of materials either. Try to look for compromises and take into account all wishes, because the personality is just being formed, and it should be comfortable and easy for her to think about a great future in her favorite room.
