How to fix mashed potatoes too salty?

Reading time – 3 minutes.

Over-salted mashed potatoes can be corrected in one of the following ways:

  • Boil more potatoes, preferably the same variety as the salted one. Then mix.
  • Add more milk and fresh butter. It is important that the butter should be unsweetened, as sugar enhances the salty taste.
  • Add another product that will take up some of the salt. This can be: two crushed boiled eggs, unsalted mushrooms, butter, milk, sour cream, herbs, or an additional portion of still unsalted potatoes.
  • If the potatoes have not yet been chopped, drain the liquid from the salted potatoes, pour in new water and return to the stove, bringing to a boil – the excess salt will partially pass into the water.
  • Serve with other unsalted dishes. For example: cucumbers, tomatoes or full-fledged salads.
  • Make a casserole with minced meat – other foods will even out the salty taste. By the same principle, you can put salted puree on a compound filling (with eggs, cabbage, etc.)
