How to fight against sagging face
The sagging of the face is the consequence of a loss of elasticity of the skin and the weakening of the facial muscles. If it is inevitable, it can however be slowed down by certain everyday actions.
Signs and causes of sagging face
With age, the skin gradually loses its elasticity, fat shifts and muscles sag. Hollows and shadows form.
The drop in hydration, inevitable with aging, favors the slowing down of cell renewal. In the dermis, fibroblasts (skin cells) become less efficient and synthesize collagen and elastin less well, two proteins that guarantee the firmness of the skin. Collagen fibers stiffen (glycation phenomenon) and accentuate wrinkles and loss of elasticity in the skin. Hyaluronic acid, an anti-aging active that guarantees good hydration of the skin, is becoming rarer. Consequence: the skin becomes thinner and sags.
The external causes of sagging skin, in addition to age, are multiple. It can be due to a yoyo diet, a significant weight loss or even a pregnancy. Sagging due to heavy weight loss after a long period of obesity causes excess skin that can only be treated with surgery.
Age remains the main cause of sagging skin. Elastin fibers and collagen, responsible for the firmness of the skin, are increasingly scarce as we age because the body works more slowly. Thus, thin faces tend to widen, while round faces sag more with the possible appearance of jowls and / or a double chin. The expressions are more frozen and the mine seems tired.
Remedies and solutions
In addition to a healthy lifestyle (balanced diet, no tobacco, little or no alcohol), the daily application of a cream is an essential gesture to prevent sagging of the face and bring firmness. The skin must be stimulated by creams rich in active ingredients which promote cell renewal. The most effective active ingredients in the fight against sagging skin are antioxidants such as vitamin C, hyaluronic acid or even resveratrol. All three bring firmness, elasticity and radiance to the skin.
On the plant side, aloe vera hydrates and nourishes the skin in depth, rebalances the skin’s pH and stimulates the cell multiplication of fibroblasts in the dermis, which makes the skin firmer.
Cocoa treatments contain vitamin E and flavonoids which exert an antioxidant activity fighting against aging of the skin.
Essential oils of rose, myrtle, or carrot firm the face. Forale rose water revives the complexion and also helps to firm the skin.
Massaging the skin is also helpful in stimulating skin cells. The face should be massaged regularly and delicately, tapping the skin with your fingertips and making circular movements to stimulate the blood microcirculation and oxygenate the tissues.
Less natural and more invasive techniques are possible in institutes, in particular through focused ultrasound devices. The device will stimulate the production of collagen by heating the area to be treated. The body will thus produce the collagen necessary to firm the skin and rejuvenate it. This treatment is carried out in 3 sessions, spaced one month apart each time. The collagen is still stimulated several months after the sessions and the effects would last for several years.
