How to fight against fall allergies?

It is sometimes thought that once spring and summer have passed, allergies will decrease or even disappear. False ! Autumn brings other pollens and promotes the development of mites. Here are some tips to better fight against these allergies.
1. What allergies arise in the fall?
These are not the same pollens that cause our allergies in spring and fall. From April, grasses appear and are responsible for many allergies. On the other hand, at the end of summer, when the hay is cut and until the end of October, the herbaceous plants take over. These plants, often called weeds, let their pollens fly, to the great misfortune of allergy sufferers.
2. Watch out for ambrosia
This plant is less localized than a few years ago, where it particularly affected the regions of southern France. It tends to spread and grows everywhere in a very short time in the countryside and in the city on the smallest parcel of land, along the walls. It is arguably the most allergenic plant in the fall.
3. How do you recognize an allergy?
It’s back to school, back to school, to nursery and often the arrival of endless colds. How to differentiate these little ailments from seasonal allergies? Fever almost never accompanies an allergy (while it can be present during a classic rhino).
People who are allergic to pollen may sneezing, their nose is runny or remains completely blocked, they may also cough, their eyes run, itch and itch as if sand had entered under the eyelid. Sometimes a sore throat can set in and persist. Some can even trigger asthma attacks.
4. Autumn and mites
When the temperatures start to drop, we tend to close the windows and ventilate our interior less to keep the heat. We turn on the radiators, we sometimes turn up the temperature when it’s cold … Warning ! Everything is there to promote the proliferation of acerens, which feed on the small dead skin that our body gets rid of!
To eradicate them, vacuum regularly in every corner and especially under the beds. Machine wash the bedding at 60 ° C, open all windows wide for at least ten minutes a day, regularly wash the fluff of the little ones, avoid double curtains which are real mites nests. It is also possible to buy covers for mattresses, box springs and anti-dust mite pillows. It could change your life and save your nights!
5. How to take care of yourself?
If you put any of these symptoms together, do not hesitate to consult a general practitioner, who will refer you to an allergist if necessary. The latter can perform tests to determine the cause of your allergies. You will probably follow treatment with antihistamines and nasal spray.
You will probably be advised to rinse your eyes regularly with physiological serum and wear sunglasses when going out on windy days to protect your eyes from flying pollens. Also avoid drying your laundry outside so that pollens do not settle there. Adjust your diet to boost your immune system.
