how to feed a baby
Perhaps the biggest problem of parents is the baby’s unwillingness to eat. Adults go to all sorts of tricks to feed their child the “right” food. Amy Hunter, the mother of three sons, shared funny observations on the topic of what her child prefers to eat.
“Everyone with small children will notice very quickly how these angels turn into demons when it comes to food. While you are trying your best to make their diet full of vitamins and other nutrients, they are constantly trying to shove all kinds of nasty things behind their chubby cheeks.
Here’s a quick list of what my little one will happily try to swallow:
1. Own goats.
2. The middle of the chicken nugget.
3. A slice from each apple from the fruit bowl.
4. Everything I eat at the moment.
5. Soft bullets from a toy blaster.
6. Lizunov.
7. Petals for a bra.
8. Everything I cooked for a snack.
9. Top of the peanut butter sandwich.
10. Bananas.
11. Sanitary napkins.
12. Capsules with washing gel.
13. Small coins.
14. Keys.
15. Plasticine.
16. My makeup.
17. Earth.
18. Pancakes.
19. Sausage.
20. Glowing neon sticks.
21. Dog food.
22. Cheese sticks.
23. Deodorant.
24. Ice cream.
25. Candy and anything that looks like candy.
What do the experts advise?
The Russian Union of Pediatricians gives useful advice to parents who notice that their child has problems with appetite.
If the child constantly does not want to eat, you should first consult with your doctor. Reduced appetite occurs in diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and kidneys, neuropsychiatric disorders, chronic infections, including tonsillitis, sinusitis, excessive proliferation of adenoids, helminthic invasions, hypovitaminosis. Often fidget children with the so-called hyperreactivity syndrome refuse to eat.
What will help increase your appetite
1. Power mode. Often, the parents themselves are the culprit for the baby’s refusal to eat. This is typical for the most part of families where the diet is not observed, in the intervals between the main feedings, they feed the child with flour and confectionery products, fruits, they are unnecessarily loaded with liquid, especially juices.
In order for the child to eat more willingly, it is necessary to diversify the menu as much as possible, to feed him only at certain hours and in a calm atmosphere, in a clean and ventilated room, without rushing and in no case forcing him to eat by force. All attempts to entertain the baby while eating (pictures, fairy tales, toys, etc.) do not improve his appetite, but only teach him to eat without noticing the food.
2. Good mood of the child and his readiness to eat.
Children who eat little, move little, and from this become lethargic, eat poorly. A child will eat poorly if he is overworked, if he is put at the table heated up by an outdoor game or upset, with tears in his eyes. The temperature of the environment and the baby’s body should also be taken into account, since overheating increases thirst, and juice secretion and appetite decrease. Therefore, persistent feeding of babies in a hot, stuffy, hot room or during a fever can make them nauseous and vomiting.
