I often get asked this question. Probably, I can consider myself qualified enough to answer it: I spend a lot of time on the plane and on the road. And today I decided to share a few tips, because summer is ahead – the season when many people travel. Although I still cannot understand why to leave Russia in the summer, because this is practically the only period when you can enjoy life here :)))
As boring as it sounds, the most important thing is to be organized, that is, to prepare in advance. First of all, you need to survive the plane and other vehicles to your destination, without spoiling the effect of several weeks of culinary abstinence and preparation of the figure for the beach season. And what is even more important, without spoiling your well-being. For example, food at the airport and on the plane can put me into a very unpleasant physical state, which worsens my mood and well-being for several days.
Therefore, I take a LOT of food on the plane, which helps me survive hunger and prevents me from falling out in the airport restaurant or on the plane. Here are my usual travel companions:
– plastic container with berries,
– bags with nuts,
– bags with dried fruits,
– avocado,
– bananas and apples (not peeled),
– pomelo (peeled: it is dry enough, easy to transport),
– dark chocolate,
– if on the way FROM Russia, then Bite bars.
If we fly for more than 4 hours, then for a child I usually take a container with boiled buckwheat and quinoa.
On the plane I drink a lot of water, instead of tea / coffee I ask for boiling water with lemon.
In a couple of weeks, I have a very long flight ahead of me, together with my son. Therefore, I plan to fill a small suitcase with food, which I will take on board. I realized that there is nothing worse than a hungry and sleepy child who was awakened by a flight attendant.
The second stage of the journey is the journey itself. For the past few years I have been trying to rent a hotel room with a small kitchen or an apartment / house on airbnb.com. (Do not forget to bargain there !!! I never rent a house at the stated prices and sometimes I reduce them 2-3 times from the original price!) If you are traveling with children, then a small hotel room can ruin the whole vacation, so explore other options that , by the way, as a rule, cheaper than hotels.
In order to make the rest as comfortable as possible, I always bring my “tourist’s set” with me: buckwheat, quinoa, organic oatmeal, an immersion blender. I love going to markets and grocery stores in new countries and cities, so without a blender just nowhere)))
We also definitely take with us stevia – the safest, in my opinion, sweetener, and, if possible, chicory, which I drink instead of coffee and which has the ability to quickly and effectively improve digestion if it gets lost due to unusual food or water.
