How to eat oysters

The serving of oysters is dictated not by the desire for the dish to be remembered for its spectacular presentation, but by the need to preserve it. Oysters are served on a slide of ice, already open. The ice keeps the food fresh for the next half hour. Therefore, try not to put off this dish until later, but eat it after serving.

Oysters are eaten live or raw, whichever name is more to their liking.

1 – Drizzle with lemon juice or additives vinegar. Pour it straight into the sink.

2 – Take a special oyster knife or fork and cut the leg of the oyster.

3 – Add the sauce to the oyster, or remove the oyster and dip in the sauce. Oysters are seasoned with olive oil or sour and hot Tabasco sauce.

4 – Use a fork to send the oyster into your mouth. In an informal setting, oysters are eaten by simply dropping them in your mouth and drinking the juice from the shell.

Lemon juice is a good indicator of product freshness. If the oyster is fresh, it should wrinkle slightly after adding lemon juice.

In addition to lemon and various sauces, oyster crackers and horseradish can be served with raw shellfish. Oyster crackers are added to the personally served sauce, having previously crumbled them over the saucepan, and horseradish can be added both to the sauce and to the oyster meat itself.

It’s bad form to salt oysters. They already have enough of their salt. By the way, like healthy zinc, 100 g of oysters contain 165% of the daily value.

Never cut up raw oyster or shellfish meat.

How to open an oyster at home

What if you decide to eat fresh oysters at home? To do this, put on tight rubber gloves, take the oyster with your left hand so that the flat side is at the top. Slide the tip of a knife between the flaps near where they join. Push the knife deeper, twist to crack the shell. Then just cut the oyster off the top flap.
