How to eat mussels
 

This seafood is available to us both in price and in availability in fish shops and supermarkets. Mussels are delicious, very easy to prepare, and also healthy! They are low in calories, and the composition contains polyunsaturated fatty acids, cobalt, potassium, calcium, boron, magnesium, phosphorus, sodium, iron, iodine. Vitamins of group B, PP, A, C, E, as well as glycogen. One problem with them is how to eat them correctly, one thing when you are at home with your family, and another when you have to eat mussels in a restaurant. Let’s figure it out.

According to etiquette

– If the restaurant serves mussels in shells, special tweezers and a fork are put in with them. Thus, by one flap, you hold the shell with tweezers, and with a fork you extract the mollusc.

– It is also allowed to take the open shell with your fingers, bring it to your mouth and suck in the contents.

In the circle of close friends and family, you can skip the moment with special devices for eating mussels, and use empty shells.

– Take half of the shell and use it to “scrape” the clam;

– Take the empty open shell and, like tongs, remove the clam.

Note

Mussels go well with dry white wine and light beers. Mussels are prepared with various sauces, usually with parsley, onions and garlic.
