Become the proud owner of a bottle of authentic Baileys Irish Cream Liqueur or made a homemade drink, the recipe of which I posted in my last article? Came to the bar and do not know what to order it with? Do not despair, today I will tell you how to drink Baileys and not lose face, having defended the honest title of a cultural drunkard =). If you have landed on this page, it means that you have already encountered this cult drink or you just have to. I will try to briefly and clearly explain what Baileys goes well with, and what you should not use it with.

How to drink Baileys: several proven ways

Only the Irish could come up with such a magical drink. The combination of soft triple-distilled whiskey with animal cream, vanilla, caramel, coffee and chocolate brings the weak half of humanity into a state of ecstasy. However, I would also not refuse to treat myself to glasses of fragrant Baileys, to savor it in a quiet and cozy atmosphere. And I’m not ashamed to admit it – the Irish are amateurs in many ways, but they understand alcohol (which is worth my beloved Jameson). But this is all the lyrics, let’s go directly to practice.

With what and how best to drink Irish liqueur Baileys

Baileys (and in general, Baileys is correct) is a digestif, like all other liquors. Unlike, for example, sambuca, which is more of a strong alcoholic drink, Irish Cream (a kind of drink derived from Baileys) is a classic liquor, which means it should be served at the end of a meal to help a satisfied stomach digest everything eaten faster.

Digestifs are drinks that are served at the end of a meal in order to improve the digestive process. Digestifs are the opposite of aperitifs, which are drunk to stimulate the appetite before meals. Almost all liqueurs containing a large amount of sugar are traditionally served as a digestif.

Ideally, Baileys is drunk in its pure form – it is very light, only 17%. You can add a couple of ice cubes, but this is a bad habit, as room temperature is the most optimal for this drink. Of course, you can use whiskey stones, but this is somehow not kosher. Traditionally, Irish Cream is served with desserts that contain cream and coffee ingredients. The drink goes very well with the Italian delicacy Tiramisu made from savoiardi sticks, mascarpone cheese and espresso – there is also coffee in the liquor recipe.

Actually, Baileys perfectly complements espresso and cappuccino. You can add it directly to coffee instead of sugar, which is very tasty, or just as an accompanying drink in a liquor glass.

A liqueur glass is a small stemmed glass that resembles a white wine or martini glass. The volume is not large – from 25 to 50 ml. Not to be confused with tulip-shaped tasting glasses – they are for noble drinks with aging, for whiskey, for example.

Baileys goes very well with strawberries and bananas, cream cheese, ice cream and nuts. In general, with desserts and sweet snacks. During meals, it is not served, except perhaps with fruit salads and with some meat dishes in berry or cream sauce. In other cases, it is better to refrain – all liqueurs dominate the taste and do not allow you to fully enjoy the dishes. In the end, you can order an ordinary white marshmallow with liquor.

Baileys in cocktails

In general, liqueurs do not harmonize very well with other drinks, but there is a separate caste. Baileys is one of them. Mixing it with juices, especially sour ones, and carbonated drinks is strictly not recommended – the cream can curl up and fall in flakes to the bottom, which will completely ruin the drink. Long drinks with Baileys are also few and almost all of them are whipped in a blender. But shots with liquor are more than enough. What is the famous B-52 worth, and also the B-53, ABC, Brain Explosion, Kazantip, etc. With shots, everything is clear – Irish Cream is dense, sugary, fits perfectly on other drinks (especially Kalua) and withstands lighter treats (such as Cointreau, Absinthe, etc.). With long and short drinks, things are a little more complicated. Here are two delicious cocktails for you to make drinking Baileys even more interesting.

In this regard, it is better not to fight off the masses – culture, because it is a mass phenomenon. All the best to you and may the force be with you =).
