If you can’t get out to the salon, try sugaring at home. We share simple pasta recipes, instructions for its use and useful tips for beginners.
Is it possible to do shugaring at home?
Some girls have become so accustomed to doing sugaring on their own that they easily remove hair on their shins, abdomen, in delicate and not very comfortable areas of the armpits and bikinis, believing that shugaring done at home has a lot of advantages:
the procedure is quite budgetary;
shugaring at home with your own hands allows you to get rid of unwanted hair for 2-3 weeks (those who use a razor never even dreamed of it);
for shugaring it is not necessary to grow hair for a long time – a length of 4–5 mm is quite enough;
irritation, redness after the procedure appear extremely rarely.
What do you need to do shugaring at home?
sugar paste;
antiseptic or good cleanser;
talc;
coolant/pain reliever if you have very sensitive skin
moisturizer or lotion;
consumables – spatula, paper strips, gloves, etc.
Но обо всем по порядку.
Sugar paste
Pasta with lemon juice
Ingredients:
2 cup of sugar;
2 Art. l water;
3 art. l. lemon juice.
How to cook:
Mix all the ingredients.
Pour the mixture into a small saucepan and place over low heat.
Cook, stirring constantly, for 15-20 minutes until the sugar is completely dissolved. Do not allow the mixture to boil and crystallize!
When the sugar begins to caramelize (the mixture will turn golden), remove the pan from the stove and cool to room temperature.
Don’t forget to take care of your skin after shugaring.
honey paste
Ingredients:
¼ glasses of honey;
1 a glass of sugar;
¼ cup lemon juice.
How to cook:
Mix all ingredients in a ceramic or plastic bowl that can be used in the microwave.
Cook 10-15 min. in the microwave at maximum power.
Take out the boiling paste, mix, let it settle.
Again send to the microwave for 10-12 seconds.
Repeat the procedure 5-6 times.
The pasta is done if you can by dropping it into cold water, then roll into a ball.
Tools and supplies
antiseptic, lotion containing alcohol;
talc or baby powder – they will dry the skin, thanks to them the paste will better capture the hairs, but stick less to the legs;
spatula – it is more convenient for them to apply the paste;
gloves – to keep hands clean after the procedure;
painkillers or coolants (creams, foams, sprays) – with them, the procedure is easier to tolerate;
Moisturizing cream or lotion to soften the skin after sugar waxing at home and prevent ingrown hairs.

How to prepare for sugar depilation?
allergies to components (the same honey, for example);
any damage to the skin – abrasions, scratches, bruises, sunburn, etc., it is impossible to carry out shugaring after laser resurfacing, chemical peeling;
skin diseases – dermatitis, psoriasis, furunculosis and others;
neoplasms on the skin;
ARVI – the condition may worsen, and depilation against the background of flu and colds is especially painful;
diabetes mellitus;
varicose veins;
epilepsy and severe cardiovascular diseases – shugaring can provoke an exacerbation;
“critical days” (if you are going to remove hair in the bikini area).
A couple of days before the procedure:
exfoliate – rub the skin with a hard washcloth or loofah, use a scrub to remove dead cells;
stop sunbathing.
Immediately before the procedure:
take a warm shower (no gel);
pat your skin dry with a towel.
It is not recommended to lubricate the skin with a greasy cream or oil before depilation, so as not to worsen the adhesion of the sugar paste to the skin.

In the armpit or bikini area, you can use an anesthetic or cooling gel.

Summary results
What is shugaring?
This is a sugar paste hair removal procedure. The first time it is better to carry it out in the salon, then you can try it yourself at home.
How to do sugar depilation?
You will need sugar paste (see above for recipes), antiseptic, coolant/pain reliever, moisturizer or lotion, and supplies – spatula, gloves, paper or cloth strips, etc.
What is the difficulty of shugaring at home for beginners?
Most of the problems arise due to improper depilation technique. Important rules: sugar paste is applied against hair growth, and removed – in growth, holding or slightly stretching the skin with your free hand. The paste does not need to be pulled up – the hand should move parallel to the skin. And applying sugar to the same place more than three times is also not worth it.
How to prepare for the sugaring procedure?
First of all, you need to make sure that you have no contraindications to it (they are described in detail here). Then… grow your hair. The optimal length for sugar depilation is 4–5 mm. A couple of days before the procedure, you can not sunbathe and, conversely, you can and should peel.
