To fix the vast majority of malfunctions with your own hands, you should know how the Indesit washing machine is disassembled.
If after 5-7 years of operation a repair is required, this is quite normal. The only question is who to entrust the repair of CM to: a good master, or try to fix everything on your own? In the article, we will look at how to remove the top and back covers of the Indesit washing machine, and explain the sequence of disassembling the case.
Required Tools
The Indesit washing machine is not much different from the similar brand Ariston. But there are still differences in the process of disassembly and repair, while the tool will need almost the same. So, arm yourself with such devices:
- Open-end wrenches 8-18 millimeters.
- A set of heads and a collar.
- Pliers and pliers.
- Screwdrivers – slotted and cross. It may be more convenient to use one screwdriver (regular or electric) with a set of nozzles.
- A small set of socket wrenches.
- Multimeter.
- With a hammer.
- Saw-hacksaw (for metal).
- Markers.
- Shilom
If you are not going to repair the electrical component of the machine, then a multimeter may not be needed. Take a regular tester – it can come in handy.
Now that you have all the tools you need, all you need is a clear disassembly diagram.
Where to start disassembling the Indesit washing machine
Set up your workspace. If the machine is in a miniature bathroom 1×1,5 m, then there will be nowhere to lay out the entire tool and turn around. Great if you have a garage or workshop. But if there is nothing like that at all, then move the machine to the kitchen or at least to the hallway. You will need at least 2 m2 free area.
In general, the preparation of a place for disassembling the Indesit machine is as follows:
- Lay newspapers or rags around your workspace.
- Disconnect the machine from communications and carefully transfer it to the place of disassembly.
- Remove the powder receptacle and set it aside – you won’t need it.
- Unscrew the drain filter from the bottom to drain the remaining water from the last wash in the tub.
- Set aside the filter.
Now that everything is ready, you can try to disassemble the Indesit washing machine with your own hands.
The first thing to do is remove the cover. It is attached with two bolts from the rear panel. Select a suitable screwdriver and unscrew the fasteners, then slightly pull the cover towards you and lift it up – that’s it, the panel is dismantled.
The second step is to remove the cover from the back. The service hatch is mounted on six bolts – unscrew them with a suitable screwdriver.
How to access the tank
Having removed the interfering panels – the back and top, you will see in front of you a part of the “insides” of the washing machine. Using them, you can access the tank.
Proceed as follows to remove the drive belt:
- Grab the pulley with one hand.
- Hold the strap with your other hand.
- Spin the pulley.
If everything is correct, the belt will slip off easily.
Examine the back wall, which is located behind the pulley. If you notice oil stains or rusty streaks, then the bearings are no longer good, and you need to disassemble the Indesit washing machine to replace them.
Proceed like this:
- Find the heating element (its shank is visible under the tank). Remove all wiring from the heater terminals. Unscrew the nut located in the center of the shank between the contacts. Having loosened the element, remove it from the groove.
Important! Many people leave the heating element in the tank, disassembling the washer. But this requires caution – in the process of disassembly, contacts can be damaged or broken, and then the heating element will have to be changed.
Here is a good video on how to remove the heating element from the Indesit brand washing machine:
- Remove the wiring and chips from the electric motor. Take a 10mm wrench and socket to unscrew the 2 bolts holding the motor. Remove the engine and set it aside.
- Switch to the top: above the top wall you will see a large stone – the manufacturers called it a counterweight (it protects the machine from loosening). It is usually attached with 3 bolts. You can remove them with a socket wrench. After removing the counterweight, set it aside.
Important! The counterweight is very heavy – be careful not to drop it and hurt yourself.
Now only a couple of details separate you from the tank – for example, the control panel. To remove it, follow our recommendations:
- Unscrew the fasteners (they are located at the powder dispenser niche).
- Remove another fastener that is hidden in the left front corner of the SM case.
- To release the block from the latches holding it, pull it up.
Important! Do not make sudden movements, otherwise you will break the wiring.
- Disconnect the wires that connect the panel to the inlet valve.
- Set the part aside so that it does not interfere with you (hang it on a service hook if you have one).
On the video you will find additional information about disassembling the front panel and removing the control panel:
Further disassembly
Now you need to access the tank from the front. To do this, work with the cuff:
- Locate the clamp holding the sealing gum.
- Pry it off with a very thin screwdriver.
- Slide the screwdriver in a circle until you rest against the mount.
- Unscrew the fastener.
- Remove clamp.
- Tuck the rubber band inside the drum.
We disassemble the Indesit washing machine further:
- Get around the machine.
- Unscrew the fastener near the water inlet hose.
- Now you can pull out two parts at once: the inlet valve and the niche of the detergent receiver.
Be careful! Disconnect the powder receptacle fitting before removing the niche. To do this, you need to unclench the clamp.
- Remove the wiring from the pressure switch.
- Remove the pressure switch from the retaining mount.
Important! The mount is made of plastic, so remove the sensor carefully so as not to break it.
- Lay the washer on its side.
- Since this brand usually does not have a bottom, you will immediately see a drain pipe and racks. These parts will not remove the tank.
How to remove the pipe and racks:
- Loosen and remove the clamps holding the pipe.
- Pull off the tube.
- Taking a 10 socket wrench, unscrew the fasteners that hold the racks.
- Remove the stands.
- Raise the machine and return to its original position.
The longest stage of disassembly is completed, you can safely proceed to the tank.
Dismantling the tank in the car Indesit
The trouble is that the manufacturer did not provide for a collapsible tank, so it needs to be cut. To remove the tank, it is pulled off the springs and lifted up.
Important! When removing the tank, proceed carefully so as not to break the wires or damage the cuff.
Then proceed like this:
- Place the tank in a vertical position by turning it up, with the factory seam towards you.
- As you can see, it is soldered, so you need to saw this seam.
- After sawing the tank with a hacksaw, remove its front part and put it away.
- The rear part remains on the drum shaft. That’s where the bearings are.
- To gain access to the bearings, you need to remove the back of the tank.
If you still have questions about cutting the tank, watch the video, which clearly shows the disassembly of the machine, cutting the tank, and replacing the bearings:
To remove the rear half of the tank, follow the instructions:
- Unscrew the nut that holds the drum pulley.
- Remove the pulley.
- Screw a suitable bolt into the thread (but not from the machine).
- Attach a block of wood to the bolt.
- Hit the bar with a hammer.
- A strong blow should move half the tank.
When the remaining half of the tank is knocked down, you will be left with a drum, behind which a shaft sticks out, and oil seals and bearings are installed on it. Now you can remove them in one of the following ways:
- Find a special car puller.
- Take the drum to an auto repair shop and have the mechanics remove the bearings. They usually do it quickly and easily for a nominal fee.
Having removed the bearings, you can easily install new ones, and then reassemble everything. Assembly will be the same as disassembly except for the tank.
You can’t “wash down” the tank back, but a good sealant will perfectly glue both halves. But this will not be enough – it will be necessary to fix the tank with bolts.
If you understand how to disassemble the Indesit washing machine, you can assemble both the tank and the entire machine back.
