How to develop perseverance and attentiveness in a child

One of the main fears of the parents of first-graders is how their fiddler will sit all these academic hours at the desk. After all, he is categorically incapable of even sitting in one place for five minutes!

Do you know what often fails even very smart and quick-witted children? Banal carelessness. Because of the inability to concentrate on the task, children make stupid mistakes. And all why? But because many parents, focusing on good grades, overlook the main tool for getting them – perseverance. After all, a child can learn to be attentive only with parental help. How is it? Woman’s Day asked the psychotherapist Zoya Bogdanova about this.

A child acquires basic attention concentration skills in early childhood. It is very important that by the time of entering school they are sufficiently developed and he does not have to master the ability to concentrate on the move, while simultaneously receiving a large amount of new information.

The attention of children is fickle and changeable: a second ago they were drawing, and now they are playing or running. This is absolutely normal, because the concentration time in childhood is rather short – up to 7 years old, children are able to concentrate on a certain activity for an average of no more than 15 minutes. However, what they are really interested in, they can do much longer. This is the main principle of classes with kids – to interest them, thereby keeping their attention. Here are some tricks.

1. It is important to remember that it is better to present knowledge to preschoolers in the form of a game. Fairy tales work great, and to consolidate the result, you can play in the theater, where the child himself will play one of the roles.

2. Break any work into stages and explain them in detail – this is how the children will learn to plan.

3. Bring what you started to the end and be sure to focus the baby’s attention on this – so he learns to be patient and realizes the joy of the completed work.

4. Encourage painting, jigsaw puzzles and jigsaw puzzles – these activities develop perseverance and concentration.

5. Participate on an equal footing with the baby in performing monotonous and monotonous actions (for example, in working with recipes), you can even write in your notebook, sitting next to him. The element of competition will make him try to do his job better, and the presence and approval of an adult will give him strength.

We gnaw the granite of science together

It is not easy to absorb the barrage of new information that befalls a child at school. It requires not only the ability to concentrate, but also the skills of some self-organization. It is good if the child already has these skills by the time of going to the first grade. But even if not, it doesn’t matter. But you have to help.

Teach your child to organize their day and week. Help him plan his time after school: rest, homework, games, walks. Make sure that he does not get out of the allotted time frame, and gradually he will learn how to optimally plan his classes.

Praise the student for achievements no less than you would praise him at the age of three. Encouragement contributes to the development of positive motivation, and with it the desire to learn.

Try to diversify the routine of school material – interesting facts, observation of the world around you, experiments available at home can show a new side of school knowledge.

And remember – care, affection and patience from parents can work wonders. Do not skimp on them, instilling in your child the desire to be assiduous, attentive and collected, and the results will exceed even your wildest expectations.
