PSYchology

To benefit from reading, accustom yourself to the discipline of reading … What does this mean in reality?

Reading discipline begins with a ban: a ban on reading books that are not on your list. And make your list of books you need right now: remember everything that you need to read or want to read, and write it down in one list. If you already have a list of books you need, sort the books listed there into three groups:

  • Really needed.
  • Generally useful
  • I just want

Really needed

They have those materials and information, which you will need in the near future. You will get the knowledge that you or you really need, pass exams, prepare reports, choose seedlings for giving and you will know how to cure a sick cat.

Generally useful

Books on general cultural development (Klyuchevsky, Plutarch, Montaigne …), literature on speed reading, strengthening memory, how to raise children and what to do with the disappearance of the waist. List of literature for grade 3 — download.

Just don’t be fooled: the more interesting the book, the more often it seems not only useful, but simply absolutely necessary!! For example, you came across an interesting book on astronomy. Terribly curious facts about the nearest galaxies and when it all explodes. I want to read — it’s a fact. Therefore, you are ready to tell yourself that you really need it in life and someday it will definitely come in handy … Yes, someday it may turn out to be important. When you realize that this information will become necessary within the next year, take and carefully read this book, or rather, those chapters that are really needed. For now, lay aside her.

I just want

Boris Akunin and Daria Dontsov — if you want, then you probably just want to, because there is no benefit or real need for them today for you. Yes?

Made?

Next, prioritize: decide what is right for you to read first. Correctly! These are really important books.

Take care of them.

Set aside time for “generally useful” ones (train ride or two hours a week at home), even better — agree with yourself that you will allow yourself to read them only after you have read everything you need.

And give books that you “just want” to children or friends who are still reading everything.

Selective Reading Instructions

So, don’t read books you don’t need. But this is only the beginning. Focus on what you really need.
