The heat exchanger in a gas boiler is one of the main parts. It is he who determines the temperature and properties of the liquid, the quality of the apparatus. The use of hard water leads to the formation of limescale. This, in turn, causes equipment overheating, increases fuel consumption and increases pump load.
You can descale the boiler yourself
With the manual method, you must first remove the part, and then remove the plaque with a metal brush, scraper or vacuum cleaner. During cleaning, be very careful not to damage parts and sealing materials. This can lead to depressurization and damage to the boiler.
Before starting manual cleaning of the boiler, be sure to turn off the gas supply.
The hydrodynamic method consists in running water under high pressure through the apparatus. This method requires constant monitoring of the system pressure. Since its critical increase can lead to rupture of the element.
How to descale a double-circuit boiler? You can simply soak the parts in a solution that softens the deposits, and then use the tools at hand to remove all the dirt.
When using the chemical method, all water should be drained from the heating system, and then a booster should be connected to the boiler – a special flushing apparatus equipped with a pump. Pour a cleaning solution into it and run the agent through the heat exchanger without stopping for several hours.
For chemical cleaning use:
- Mixtures in powder form with sulfamic acid. These products will not damage metal and sealing materials.
- A solution of hydrochloric acid, but this should be done with great care: the product is very aggressive, and its waste is difficult to dispose of.
- Citric acid – it works quite effectively, but more carefully than hydrochloric acid.
After flushing, you need to drive off the clean water several times. This method helps to clean hard-to-reach areas of the device.
