How to defrost a two-compartment refrigerator quickly and according to the rules
When ice build-ups appear on the walls of the freezer, electricity consumption increases and the compressor makes unusual noises. How to defrost a two-compartment refrigerator, and how does this process differ from cleaning a familiar one-compartment unit? It turns out that there is practically no difference, apart from some additional advantages of more modern equipment.
How to defrost a refrigerator
Defrosting may differ slightly depending on which two-compartment refrigerator you have in your kitchen. If it is single-compressor, then the actions are performed in the following order:
– Disconnect the unit from the power supply.
– We take out products from the main chamber and freezer, put them in a cool place.
– We put a container under the freezer to collect water, for which a special hole is usually provided in two-compartment refrigerators. Put rags on the bottom in the refrigerator.
– To make the ice melt faster, we place hot water bottles with boiling water in both chambers, add hot water as it cools.
– We wipe the inner surfaces from moisture, remove the remnants of ice. We wash the refrigerator using a detergent, wipe it with a 25% alcohol solution for disinfection.
– Wipe the inner walls and shelves with a dry cloth. We leave the cameras to dry and ventilate for a while.
– We connect the device to the network.
– We return the products to the refrigerator, wiping them with a napkin from moisture.
The refrigerator with two compressors allows each compartment to be defrosted separately. The sequence of actions is preserved. The difference is that first the refrigerator is turned off and washed, and then the freezer is defrosted. You don’t have to do this at the same time. Choose which compartment to defrost based on how dirty it is or the presence of ice.
What not to do when defrosting the refrigerator
Do not look for radical ways to quickly defrost the refrigerator. Sudden changes in temperature can lead to its breakdown. Do not put open containers with boiling water inside. The steam will not only melt the ice, but also heat up the freezing elements, which is detrimental to them. For the same reason, you should not use a hair dryer or put on a heater. The use of electrical appliances during freezing is also unacceptable from a safety point of view.
Never pick the ice or break off pieces of it. If the evaporator is damaged, you will have to call the master, incur additional costs and do without a refrigerator for some time. Do not use abrasive products to clean the walls. Scratches will appear on the surface, from which rust will begin to spread.
Even refrigerators with automatic know-frost system need to be defrost periodically. It allows you to get rid of ice and at the same time disinfect surfaces, revise products and put things in order in the chambers. Competent actions will allow you to defrost the unit quickly and accurately, without harming the equipment.
