A self-taught pastry chef creates sweet masterpieces that are a pity to eat.
Amira Kassem was born and raised in Mexico. She dreamed of becoming a star in the fashion industry, becoming a cool designer. So I moved to New York. But somehow it didn’t work out with fashion. And not because Amira was mediocrity. It’s just that her main talent did not allow the girl to do something else.
Amira was once taught to bake cakes by her mother. She did not study anywhere else – only the basics of culinary skills from her own kitchen. Nevertheless, the girl did everything so easily and simply that she was happy to bake holiday delicacies for her friends and relatives. She supplemented and improved the recipes herself, and as for the appearance of the cakes, she gave free rein to her imagination of an almost fashionable designer.
And at one point, the snowball effect kicked in. Friends of friends asked where they bought such a wonderful birthday cake. Piñata cakes were especially popular. If you remember, this is the kind of toy that at Mexican holidays is hung from a tree and beaten with a bat until sweets sprinkle out of it.
In general, friends gave Amira’s phone to friends, they went to her, and so on in a circle. Soon, the girl had no choice but to open her own small business.
Amira’s pastry shop started with Instagram. Four years later, she opened her own tiny shop. And soon her rainbow cakes conquered the city – New York, the Big Apple, fell at the feet of the cheerful baker.
“I never went to culinary school, never learned how to run my business. I just had fun, I woke up every day and did what I wanted, ”Amira told PopSugar.
And we invite you to admire the sweet masterpieces of a self-taught pastry chef – it’s just a pity to eat them!
