There is enough space on the New Year’s table for everyone: tinctures, liqueurs, liqueurs, and many other results of home experiments. And at some feasts there will be high-ranking VIP-persons in the form of elegant bottles of whiskey, tequila, rum. However, almost no festive table can do without the traditional cheerful and pleasing champagne.
Have you already watched my New Year’s selection of champagne cocktails? I decided to continue the New Year theme and collected some ideas for decorating a bottle of champagne with my own hands. By the way, some of these methods will help not only to decorate, but also to “stash” the bottle, making it invisible among the New Year’s decor.
And for starters – a few recommendations and tips that may come in handy in the process of decorating:
- If you are working right before the holiday, then you should either let the bottle “rest” (and, of course, cool a little), or try not to shake it too much.
- To remove the label from the bottle (which is not always necessary), you can first moisten it a little with warm water (no need to put champagne under hot tap water). Then, with a knife or other object, you need to remove the label. If there is glue left, it can be removed with cotton wool soaked in alcohol (vodka).
- The bottle can be decorated with a variety of items: sweets, ribbons, rain, beads, toys, organza, paper, etc. For fastening, it is better to use silicone glue, which quickly hardens, has no unpleasant odor and can be easily removed from jewelry after. Additionally, you can use ordinary and double-sided tape, as well as other types of glue.
Decoupage bottles of champagne for the New Year
Decorating champagne using the decoupage technique is quite simple, while you can supplement the picture with the same ribbons, sweets, sparkles.
So, you will need:
- a bottle of champagne;
- Napkins with your favorite New Year’s pattern;
- Primer (you can buy at an art or hardware store, or you can get by with acrylic white paint);
- Acrylic paints;
- PVA glue;
- Acrylic lacquer (you can do without it if the decoration is intended only for a holiday, and not for long-term storage);
- Scissors, sponge (you can use a special sponge, or you can use a regular kitchen sponge).
Description of the process:
- On the washed and dried bottle, we apply a primer with a sponge (sponge), we do it in a blotting way, pressing the sponge against the glass. When the first layer dries, you can apply another one.
- On the dried primer, apply several thin layers of white acrylic paint, let dry. If you want to get a perfectly flat surface, then you can sand it with a very fine sandpaper after it dries completely.
- We cut out the part of the napkin that we like or from several, separate the upper thin layer, make the edge of the pattern “torn”, uneven.
- Now we apply the drawings to the bottle, select their location.
- We glue the drawings with a special decoupage agent or PVA glue (if the glue is very thick, you can dilute it a little with water). The glue is applied over the attached napkin with a brush, the movements should be light, from the center to the edges, not shifting the pattern. When the glue dries a little, you can apply a second thin layer.
- If you have glued the entire surface of the bottle with drawings, then after drying you can cover everything with acrylic varnish.
- And if the drawings are at a distance from each other, then the edges of each can be sprinkled with sparkles, having previously covered them with glue. You can also repaint the white areas in a different color.
The top of a decoupage champagne bottle can be tied with straw, ribbons, rain, or left as is. To make a gift or table decoration original, show your imagination and use materials that are at hand and are not perceived as decorative. For clarity, we offer you a video master class
How to decorate a bottle of champagne with candy
One of the options for a “delicious” decor is a “pineapple” of sweets on a bottle of champagne. You can also make such a decoration of a bottle of champagne for the New Year from improvised materials, because this holiday is not complete without sweets.
We need:
- a bottle of champagne;
- Candies;
- Silicone glue (you can also use double-sided tape);
- Organza, tissue paper or other thin beautiful paper (if desired);
- Green paper for packaging (you can use any green paper or decorate ordinary white sheets in the desired color).
- Ribbon or twine.
Description of the process:
- Cut out squares from organza or paper according to the number of candies. For example, if you take the Golden Lily, you will need about 70 pieces.
- We attach the “tails” of the labels to the candies themselves so that they do not stick out on the sides or top. You can attach it with double-sided tape or silicone glue.
- We fix the sweets in the middle of the squares of fabric or paper with silicone glue.
- We begin to glue the blanks with the same glue to the bottle, starting from the bottom row. We tuck the fabric or paper so that it does not interfere with gluing the next row. So we glue all the rows of the bottle in a checkerboard pattern.
- We cut the future “leaves” of pineapple from green paper. We glue them together to make a strip with leaves.
- We tie a bunch of leaves around the neck, tie them with ribbons or cord.
You can also decorate the “pineapple” with a bow, rain and other materials.
