How can I make bowel movements easier? What are the causes of bowel problems? Are there any home remedies to ease bowel movements? The question is answered by the drug. Paweł Żmuda-Trzebiatowski.
How to facilitate defecation?
Good day. My name is Grażyna and I am 60 years old. I have been for many years problem with defecation. I used various types of adjuvants (tablets, syrups), they helped, but unfortunately only for a short time. The problems with distinguishing in me worsen with age, with each passing year it is getting worse for me to defecate. Then there is stomach ache and terrible gas. My stomach ache is closely related to the problem of relieving myself.
When I can’t do it for two / three days, it shows up dull pain in the lower abdomen. I noticed that I have a problem with defecation when I have strong stressful situations. Please help me with my problem, please let me know how to deal with difficulties with bowel movements. I have already visited many doctors, but I still hear, please eat healthy, drink plenty of water, and when the critical situation arises, take medications. I do all of this, I don’t eat fatty foods, I drink a lot of water, I eat vegetables and fruits, which are high in fiber. How can I still help myself?
Difficulty with bowel movements they are a terrible discomfort for me. Are there any home remedies to help her defecate? I will do everything to help me. Thank you, Grażyna.
The doctor indicates ways to facilitate defecation
Ladies and Gentlemen, it is a pity that you did not write exactly what medications you use. The advice from other doctors is perfectly appropriate. If you have problems with bowel movements, you should drink plenty of fluids and eat high-fiber foods. In addition to a proper diet, you should also take care of regular physical activity. Unfortunately, the older we are, the more often we are burdened with other diseases and we do not care about proper activity.
If the above-mentioned methods do not help, you should reach for the appropriate drugs. Fortunately, we have several groups of drugs that facilitate bowel movements. There are volumizing agents such as psyllium or methylcellulose, osmotically active agents that increase the amount of water in the stool to soften it, for example sorbitol or lactulose, drugs that stimulate peristalsis such as anthranoids and bisacodyl.
Lubricants are also sometimes used, mainly liquid paraffin and docusate sodium. If none of the above-mentioned methods help, you should consult your family doctor for further diagnosis of the disease. Unfortunately, one of the causes of constipation may be cancer, in particular colon cancer.
I did not mention before that the cause of constipation can also be drugs, including antidepressants and anticonvulsants, as well as various types of diseases of the nervous system, endocrine system or connective tissue diseases. Very often, constipation results from poorly treated hypothyroidism or irritable bowel syndrome.
