You don’t have to be a popular blogger or public figure to face unconstructive criticism or bullying. This situation can happen to anyone, especially in the digital space, where many “anonymous” are ready to throw out their negativity at the first comer. How to resist this? The creators of the #DebateCandidates show are sure that everyone can learn to resist the hate.
#DebateCandidates is the first reality show in Russia to prepare the most ordinary people for the world of big politics. Applications for participation in it were submitted by several thousand people who told the expert jury about their projects, which they would like to implement, becoming deputies. The 30 best political candidates made it to the face-to-face round, and now they are fighting for a prize fund of 30 million rubles and the opportunity to run for the State Duma of the Russian Federation from the New People party. Project participants are taught by leading media experts, coaches and political technologists.
The “Young Fighter Course” involves teaching all the most important skills necessary for a modern politician. So, for example, in the seventh edition of the show, the contestants took a master class on communicating with the media from the well-known publicist and human rights activist Eva Merkacheva. The expert told how to behave correctly at a press conference, to keep the attention of journalists, win their favor and respond to unpleasant questions.
In addition, the project participants were waiting for another important lesson – a master class on countering hating from Ksenia Sobchak. Young politicians learned in practice – the contestants asked the socialite the most uncomfortable and provocative questions, bringing her to strong emotions. They talked about the most intimate and serious, for example, about her unsuccessful presidency, the Far Eastern crabs scandal, her divorce from Maxim Vitorgan.
