Does it exist at all?
My 4 week old daughter has terrible colic. Cries and strains all night. Is it possible to somehow prevent this? ~ Paulina
Infant colic is an expression of incomplete maturity of the children’s digestive tract. Unfortunately, my experience shows that it cannot be completely avoided – in some children it occurs and that’s it. Preventive measures that can be tried are, first of all, the appropriate diet of a nursing mother – certainly avoid bloating foods. I suggest that you write down your menu and eliminate those dishes that will cause your daughter to develop colic. Secondly, the baby should be properly fed – he cannot gulp air along with the food. To do this, it should cover the entire nipple with the mouth and tongue. A baby that sucks properly does not leave the breast every now and then and does not suckle. Third – after each feeding, the baby should be carried on the shoulder to the so-called reflections. By pressing the arm on the belly, air is forced out of the stomach, which has entered it with food. Finally – various types of anti-colic preparations are available in pharmacies. You can try their use, but I warn you right away that not every child is equally effective. During an attack of colic, you can bring relief to your child by massaging and warming the tummy and by making the so-called bicycles. Finally, I would like to recommend you a bit of patience – in almost all children, colic subsides as he took away with his hand after the age of 3 months!
