How to cut a mirror correctly

First, you need to prepare a mirror, more precisely, its surface, as well as the necessary tools and materials:
- mirror cloth;
- glass cutter;
- solution for cleaning the mirror surface;
- special ruler;
- marker or pencil;
- mallet;
- a table with a perfectly flat surface;
- sandpaper.
The surface of the mirror must be cleaned of dust, dirt and grease stains – a soda solution is perfect for this. Then, in order for the mirror to adapt to the working conditions, it must be left indoors for several hours.
How to cut a mirror at home
After the preparatory stage is completed, you can start cutting the mirror. It should be wiped dry. The mirror is placed on a flat surface covered with a cloth, face up. The markings must be applied in such a way that the marks coincide with the working field of the glass cutter. To do this, you need to indent.
The glass cutter must be held perpendicular to the surface. Press it firmly against the mirror surface and metal ruler. Carefully, without haste, move the glass cutter towards you along the cutting line with even movements. The applied effort should be the same from start to finish, once and without stopping.
If a slight crackling sound is heard during the procedure, then you are doing everything right. If the sound is squeaky, then the cutter is defective or the pressure is too strong.
The separation of the cut section is as follows: the mirror is placed on the edge of the table, and it is necessary to press on the cut section. If chipping does not occur, then you can gently knock on the cut line with a small mallet or rubber mallet. The trimmed area must be sanded.
