How to cure the throat of a nursing baby? Video
Babies catch colds no less than adult children. A stuffy nose, a red throat, a cough – all this often panics inexperienced mothers. Helping a kid is not easy. Small children, of course, do not know how to gargle, and many medications are simply contraindicated for babies under one year old, but there are home methods that will help a child cope with a sore throat.
Old people often repeat that children under seven have a “wolf’s skin”. This expression means that illnesses do not stick to babies, and if something clings, then the child’s body will cope on its own. This is a terrible delusion. In small children, especially infants, the immune system is insufficiently formed, the body is in a stressful state of active development, the mucous membranes are hypersensitive, and therefore overly susceptible to microorganisms. Children need to be protected from infections, and if the child is already sick, heal.
Treatment of any baby is divided into basic and concomitant. The doctor should prescribe the main treatment and tell you how to treat a child’s throat. Concomitant, or symptomatic, it is quite possible to carry out at home.
Home remedies for red throat
The safest and most useful medicine is mother’s milk. If your baby is breastfed, breastfeed as often as possible during illness. Milk improves immunity, contains all the necessary vitamins. Remember also that with a cold (and the neck turns red, most likely because of it), it is useful to drink a lot.
Prepare a decoction of chamomile and simply water the baby from a spoon or bottle with a nipple. Chamomile is brewed at the rate of 1 tbsp. in a glass of hot water, insist, filter, cool to room temperature. There is also chamomile in sachets: one sachet per glass of water. If the child is very young, chamomile can be dripped into the spout using a simple pipette. When chamomile flows down the nasopharynx, it will also be effective.
Instead of chamomile, you can use calendula, sage, St. John’s wort, or combine these herbs (in total – one tablespoon per glass of water) if the child does not have an allergic reaction.
For a long time, our grandmothers made tea with raspberries and lindens for the treatment of colds. Drinking warm drinks will also help a small child if he can already drink such drinks.
Helpful for red throat and garlic. Of course, it is forbidden to feed a small patient with it, just grate the garlic on a fine grater, place it not far from the baby. This inhalation can be very effective, as the essential oils in garlic kill bacteria.
The inflammation in the throat is relieved by chlorophyllipt solution. This is a eucalyptus-based drug that is used as an antimicrobial agent. Before splashing into the baby’s mouth, read the instructions, consult a doctor, the liquid may need to be diluted. Please note that chlorphilipt is available in different forms, including in the form of an oil suspension, some solutions of the drug may contain alcohol. You should refrain from using them.
The German drug “Doctor Mom”, which is often prescribed by doctors, has also proven itself. If giving medicine to a baby from a spoon is difficult, try lubricating the nipple with it and applying the baby. As a rule, drug treatment is designed for 7-10 days, rarely doctors prescribe a two-week course.
If, along with inflammation of the mucous throat, a high temperature does not appear, give the baby inhalations. To do this, take hot water into the bathtub, pour eucalyptus oil into it and sit with your child next to the steaming bathtub for 8-10 minutes. The hot steam, saturated with phytoncides, does an excellent job of killing germs. Before leaving the bathroom, wrap the baby with his head; be careful not to chill the child after such a bath.
If the redness in the throat during the day is complicated by a runny nose or fever, consult a doctor immediately.
Before going to bed, give your baby a light back and chest massage with phytobalms. You can buy Bronchicum ointment or, for example, Vitaon. Apply the balms in gentle circular motions, gently rubbing into the skin, but first check the baby’s skin for allergies to the selected drug. When finished, put on a cotton T-shirt and a shirt on your baby.
And remember that all these methods are only auxiliary treatment, additional help. A red throat can be a symptom of a serious medical condition. For the appointment of an accurate treatment, be sure to contact your pediatrician.
