If the window installer did not make a special protective layer on the foamed places, the foam gradually collapses, and as a result, considerable gaps appear between the frame and the wall. In this case, you will have to fix the shortcomings of the window installer yourself.

For work, you will need the following materials and tools:

  • screwdriver;
  • putty knife;
  • white spirit;
  • stationery knife;
  • polyurethane foam;
  • acrylic-based sealant (silicone will not work, because under the influence of temperature it will roll and become unusable) with a gun.

Having prepared all the tools, you must first remove the old foam material, for which you remove the drips and the substitute profile. Take a screwdriver and crumble the existing foam with it (it crumbles very well and is easy to remove). Also use a screwdriver to remove any foam between the wall and frame. Then you need to degrease the surfaces using white spirit.

Then you can proceed to sealing the gaps. To do this, you need to perform the following actions:

  • squeeze foam into all joints and crevices;
  • install the ebb in place (no need to wait for the foam to dry);
  • remove excess foam with a knife;
  • apply sealant on top of it;
  • level it in the direction from the window to the street using a spatula;
  • coat the dried sealant with alkyd paint to protect it from external influences.

When foaming and sealing unnecessary gaps, you should carefully go through the place under the ebb. If the work is done correctly, there will be no cracks here for a long time.

How to cover up the cracks in plastic windows? For this, a sealant should be used. But often in PVC windows, gaps arise due to the fact that the rubber seal is worn out, then you just need to replace it with a new one. You just need to remove the worn out material from the grooves, clean them from dust, and then fill them with a new seal. To increase the period of its use, it is required to apply a silicone spray to it once a year.

All the same sealant – that’s how to cover up the cracks in wooden windows. Previously, it is better to replace rotten glazing beads on such windows. Also, the gaps formed between the sashes and the frame (or glass and frame) should be well sealed with synthetic adhesive tape.

To always keep warm in your home in winter, you need to eliminate the existing window gaps. Then the room will always be comfortable and cozy.
