Experts say that babies are born unspoiled: this is literally a blank slate. They find unsalted vegetable puree delicious and even dill water is not disgusting. But then it begins: having learned the taste of sugar, and even fast food, children turn away from vegetables with disgust. And how to be here? There are at least 8 ways to feed the unwanted healthy food.
1. Pumpkin
The coolest thing about a pumpkin is that you can make a Halloween lantern out of it. But there is a pumpkin … No, thanks, I better look like hungry. However, the appeal of pumpkin increases dramatically if you make pancakes out of it, add pumpkin puree to bun dough or even to minced meatballs. Chances are, your toddler won’t even notice that his homemade hamburger is half healthy fiber.
2. Broccoli
Many adults buy broccoli for themselves just because they believe in the health benefits of this vegetable. And scientists say that in relation to broccoli, you can determine what the likelihood of developing cancer in a person. But children cannot be fooled – even if you call broccoli a small tree, they are unlikely to eat it willingly. An effective way to shove this vegetable into a baby is to chop it so finely that the child does not understand what he is eating. You can add chopped broccoli to scrambled eggs and pasta sauce, for example.
3. Carrot
Carrots are easier – many children really like them. And if not, then you can make a carrot cake, which is simply impossible to refuse. Especially if you make a cream cheese frosting for him. In addition to carrots, you can add nuts, dried fruits and grated apple to the cake – this will make it even healthier and its taste brighter.
4. Bow
Oh … Some children are able to eat onions like apples. But few. Usually kids even from the soup carefully catch the unfortunate vegetable. But if you cut it not just finely, but very finely and add it to the sauce, fry it along with the chicken pieces and put it in the soup, then, perhaps, the child will eat it. Or at least not all will be caught.
5. Spinach and other greens
Greens are very useful, but they are not at all attractive to children. It is impossible to convince them of the usefulness of spinach. But spinach is good because it can be easily disguised in almost any dish: pie, omelette, stew. You can make a special green superhero cocktail with banana, pineapple, kiwi, and (discreetly planted) spinach. Alternatively, show the kid a cartoon about the sailor Popeye. But this trick may not work.
6. Cauliflower
Children recognize it by its smell – the specific aroma of boiled cabbage. Therefore, it is worth trying other serving options: for example, disassemble the inflorescences into small pieces and add to the pizza filling. So the child will not be able to identify her. The main thing is not to let it slip that you fed the baby cabbage with a trick. To get revenge, next time he will even refuse pizza.
7. Mushrooms
Yes, it is not a vegetable, but children rarely like mushrooms. My 20-year-old daughter still can’t stand them. I recognize them only in a fried and occasionally salty form. Yes, mushrooms are difficult. But you can still introduce the child to this food: mix it with ham for pizza or pasta, for example. So the baby will quickly get used to the taste and aroma of mushrooms, and they will be associated with other, favorite products.
8. Sweet pepper
Over time, it will start to seem tasty, but at first it is unlikely. Add pepper to stews: cabbage with meat, mashed soups (a godsend for mothers, by the way, you can hide any ingredients in mashed potatoes), to pizza, bake and add to mashed potatoes.
By the way
For your little one to love vegetables, you will have to love them too – healthy eating habits start with the parents. Praise your child for eating everything, but don’t make him a hero. Involve your baby in cooking – he will eat the fruits of his labor with great pleasure. Children also love with their eyes. Try to be inspired by the example of this mother, who creates masterpieces from food, so that the daughters eat right.
