Unlike other foods, shrimp can be thawed with water, but like all other thawed foods, they should be cooked and consumed immediately. In the water, excess “debris” will be eliminated – antennae, shell particles, tails and claws.
How to cook shrimp properly
Pour water into a pot and put it on fire. The water should be twice the volume of the shrimp. Salt water – 40 grams per liter of water. When the water boils, toss the shrimp into the pot. After cooking, drain the water, place the shrimp on a plate and season with lemon juice or vegetable oil for flavor and shine.
The duration of shrimp cooking depends on the preliminary preparation of the product being sold – red semi-finished shrimps are cooked for 3-5 minutes, gray-green raw shrimps – 7 minutes. This is the cooking time for the shrimp in boiling water.
Also, the cooking time depends on the size of the shrimp – large king prawns cook for a couple of minutes longer than small and medium-sized ones.
Shrimp without shell should be boiled in less salted water – 20 grams of salt per liter of water.
To cook shrimp with lemon, squeeze the juice of one lemon into boiling water and add the shrimp, or you can throw in the lemon sliced into slices along with the shrimp.
The shrimp can be cooked in a double boiler, salted and sprinkled with lemon juice, only the cooking time will increase to 15 minutes. Similarly, shrimp are cooked in the microwave for steam – they will be ready within 7 minutes.
