Compote is a classic Russian drink that has long been served in kindergartens and canteens. But if, for some reason, you want to diversify your diet using familiar preparations, as an option – compote jelly. If the compote is sweet enough, then only starch is required for the jelly. For each liter of compote, provide a tablespoon of starch. Strain the compote from berries and fruits, and if there is a strong sediment, pour it through cheesecloth. Stir the starch in a glass of compote, and send the rest to heat. As soon as it boils, add the starch mixture with constant stirring, and boil for a minute. Taste the jelly and add lemon juice to taste and sugar if necessary. After that, the drink is ready – cool it and serve.
