To solve the problem, it is not at all necessary to take your carpet to a dry cleaner or to a car wash. All work can be easily done independently.

To clean up your home, you can do without expensive cleaning products. When washing the carpet, it is necessary to take into account the possibility of drying it at the end of the procedure. If it is left wet in an unventilated room, instead of a problem with stains, it can get bad odor and mold.

Before washing the carpet or carpet, you should sweep off the crumbs or vacuum it. After that, it is necessary to carefully inspect the surface to determine the nature and amount of contamination and choose a cleaning method. It can be one of the following:

  • a composition of a solution of baking soda, half a glass of which is added to 5 liters of water, sprayed over the surface of the carpet, kept for 30 minutes and cleaned with a vacuum cleaner. Dry soda can also be used, which should be rubbed into the carpet with a rag. Most of the stains will be removed, and the color of the carpet will be fresher and more saturated;
  • the solution to the problem of how to wash the carpet at home is complicated by the long pile. The use of ammonia will help here, a spoon of which, along with three tablespoons of powder, is added to 5 liters of water. To apply the composition, you need to use a soft brush. After that, the carpet is wiped first with a damp cloth, then dry and dried;
  • Hydrogen peroxide can be used to remove mold.

In case of heavy pollution, the problem of how to wash the carpet is solved by washing it. This method is inconvenient for indoor use and requires prolonged drying on a flat ventilated surface.

How to remove odors from carpet

If the carpet starts to smell unpleasant, it is likely that liquid has been spilled on it and has not dried properly. The smell is removed by cleaning the entire coating. If there is little dirt, you can wipe the surface with a cloth soaked in a mixture of wine vinegar and soapy water, and then wash it with a sponge with plain water. A simple solution of vinegar and water also helps to remove the smell. It is important that if foul-smelling liquids get on the carpet, immediately blot them with a cloth and rinse them with water. Then you don’t have to look for ways to wash the carpet later.

Any fresh stains are much easier to clean than old ones. If possible, do not allow spilled tea or coffee to dry out; it is better to wash them right away. But if the stains still remain, there is almost always an opportunity to remove them, however, more effort will be needed.
