The stove is the main working tool of any kitchen. And often the result of active culinary activity is downright striking, because there is not always time for high-quality cleaning of the device after each cooking. Deposits accumulate and fat becomes obsolete. Removing such stains is not very easy. We will talk about how to quickly and effectively deal with old fat on the stove.
Cleaning the hob
Lemon
Both lemon juice and citric acid will be equally effective. Old fat can be grated with a slice of lemon or pour freshly squeezed lemon juice on it. If you use citric acid, then it must be dissolved in a small amount of warm water before applying to the stove. Leave the active substance to act for 20-30 minutes. Then gently wipe the surface and remove any remaining acid with a clean sponge dampened with water.
Ammonia
An effective remedy for particularly old greasy stains. Dilute 1 teaspoon of ammonia solution in 1 tbsp. water. Apply to the contaminated area of the plate. Leave for 15-20 minutes. You can remove the remnants of the composition with the hard side of the sponge or an old toothbrush. It is undesirable to rub the surface too intensively so as not to remove the enamel.
Vinegar
The product that is available in every kitchen can be used not only in the cooking process. Ordinary table vinegar does an excellent job with old fat. There are several ways to apply an effective agent: using a sprayer, a kitchen sponge, or simply from a bottle. It is enough to apply a sufficient amount of vinegar (it should properly cover the oily area) on the stove and leave to act for 15-20 minutes. This is usually enough to soften the fat and quickly remove it without the slightest effort.
Soda
A versatile option that can easily cope with fat. You just need to add a little warm water to the soda powder to make a thick slurry. Apply it in a thick even layer on the contaminated area of the stove and leave it to break down fat for 30-40 minutes. To ensure the desired effect, you can gently rub the composition into the surface of the plate. After the specified period of time, remove the soda with a soft sponge. If necessary, the procedure can be repeated.
Soda + vinegar
Particularly powerful formulation for mega-resistant grease stains. Be sure to wear gloves before starting work. Pour a small amount of table vinegar (both 6% and 9% will do) onto the area of uXNUMXbuXNUMXbthe stove covered with old fat (the liquid should cover the stain, but not turn the stove into a “floating island”). Sprinkle enough baking soda on top. It remains to wait until the violent reaction ends. Then carefully remove the remnants of the mixture in any convenient way.
Saline
In terms of efficiency, ordinary table salt is not inferior to baking soda. To prepare an effective composition, you need to dissolve 2 tbsp. tablespoons of salt in 0,5 liters of warm water. Apply the resulting solution to the contaminated area or the entire stove and leave for several hours (ideally overnight). After that, the fat should easily separate from the hob.
Fat dissolver
Professional household product, often produced in the form of a spray. It is necessary to use such compounds very carefully, in small quantities and strictly on the area stained with fat. Keep for as long as the manufacturer specifies so that the reaction is effective and the surface of the plate is not damaged. After a certain period of time, the fat dissolver must be removed with a sufficient amount of water. You need to work with gloves.
Cleaning the grid
Ammonia
One of the easiest and most effective ways to remove greasy deposits from the grate. Be sure to wear gloves to protect your hands before working. Wet a kitchen sponge generously with ammonia solution and carefully go over the entire surface of the grate. Then place it in a plastic bag and leave for 3-6 hours. Then take it out of the bag, rinse it under running water and wipe it thoroughly with a sponge and liquid detergent. Fat and soot should literally move away from the metal.
Boiling
The method is optimal for cast-iron gratings (and only for them). First you need to find a capacious container that will fit the entire grill (it will be easiest for owners of a stove with a collapsible grill). Based on the calculation that 10 liters of water are taken, add 5 tbsp to the container. tablespoons of soda ash, finely grated half of the laundry soap and a grated apple (the latter will provide the surface with a perfect shine). Place the grate in the prepared mixture and put the container on the fire. Boil as much as will be enough to quickly separate the contaminants from the grate (everything is strictly individual).
Calcination
Another effective method for cleaning cast iron grates. To heat the metal, you need to put it in the oven, use a soldering iron or a fire (in extreme cases). Then let it cool down to such an extent that you can safely touch it. Then, using a sponge and dishwashing detergent, carefully wipe the entire surface: the dirt can be easily cleaned.
Means for cleaning the engine
A very effective method that requires caution. Using improvised means, apply engine cleaner to the entire surface of the grate and after a couple of minutes rinse intensively under running water. You can work with such compounds only with gloves.
Features of cleaning non-standard hobs
Cleaning a gas stove from old fat is, in general, a simple process. The situation is slightly different with other cooking surfaces. In order to quickly remove greasy deposits, and not damage the coating of such products, it is important to take into account several nuances.
Electric stove
Equipped with non-removable heating elements mounted in a metal case. Often, it is these areas that cause the greatest difficulty when washing a household appliance. How to wash the electric stove:
Wait until the heating elements have completely cooled down.
Disconnect the device from the mains.
Gently apply a sufficient amount of detergent to the contaminated surface. Pay special attention to the junction areas of the hob with working spirals. To quickly and efficiently clean the gaps between the cover and the rim of the spirals, you can use a toothpick.
Wait a certain amount of time.
Remove residues with a soft sponge, rinse the surface of the plate with clean water.
Important. It is not recommended to fill the electric stove with water, as this can lead to moisture entering the spirals, which is fraught with a short circuit and their failure.
Induction and glass-ceramic hob
Both household appliances require a particularly delicate approach, since a smooth and easy-to-clean (at first glance) coating has its own characteristics:
It is unacceptable to use abrasives, hard brushes and other products that can damage the glass-ceramic coating to clean the hob. If mechanical cleaning is required, a special scraper should be used – it will not leave scratches and will effectively remove greasy deposits.
The use of special cleaners for induction and glass-ceramic hobs is recommended. They include special components that create a protective film impervious to contamination.
To remove heavily baked, burnt fragments of food from the hob, you must use a hot, damp cloth: put it on the contaminated area and leave for a while. The fat should fall off easily.
