Suede things are beautiful and functional, but sooner or later they get dirty and lose their attractive appearance. They cannot be washed like regular clothes, so it is important to figure out how to clean suede so that you do not have to update your wardrobe.

Knowing how to clean suede can easily bring things back to their original appearance.

How to clean suede properly

First of all, the product must be dried at room temperature. Attempting to remove dirt from wet suede can make the situation worse.

It is recommended to clean suede items with a suitable brush: on one side there is a rubber bristle, and on the other – a metal one. The brush perfectly removes various types of dirt. With its help, you can give the product a neat look.

Run the rubber bristle brush over the surface of the product.

Movements must be made in one direction, without strong pressure.

If after removing the main dirt on the product there are stains, you need to determine their origin and remove in one of the ways.

  • A regular eraser is suitable for removing black marks. The stain is treated with it, but carefully, without strong pressure.
  • A solution of hydrogen peroxide and ammonia in water will help to clean the white suede. For a glass of liquid, you will need a teaspoon of both ingredients. Soak a tissue in the solution, squeeze lightly and gently wipe the stain.
  • Stubborn areas are best treated with a soda solution of milk: a teaspoon of soda is required for a glass. Ordinary soap solution or ammonia will also help.
  • It is recommended to remove greasy stains with gasoline: they need to moisten a cloth and wipe the desired area. After such a radical remedy, you will have to deal with an unpleasant odor.

Unnatural suede is first cleaned with a cloth soaked in soapy water, and then rinsed in clean water. You cannot squeeze the product, you need to hang it evenly and let the liquid drain on its own.

How to clean suede over steam

It will not work to get rid of the stain with the help of steam, but it is able to facilitate the work of removing it. An ordinary boiling kettle will be enough.

The place of the product that needs cleaning should be brought to the emerging steam and held over it for two minutes.

Then the stain is removed in one of the ways listed above.

Steam can help bring things back to their original appearance. To do this, hold it over it, and then process it with the metal side of the brush with confident short movements in one direction so that the pile lies neatly and the color remains uniform.
