How to clean an old bathtub white
Soaking up the warm water helps for hygienic purposes and as a psychological relaxation. But even romantic meetings in a bath with thick foam or rose petals can be spoiled by rust or limescale.
How to clean the bathtub white: the preparatory stage
Before cleaning this type of plumbing, you need to remember:
- You will need rubber gloves (any product will negatively affect the skin of your hands), sometimes you cannot do without a respirator.
- When choosing cleaning agents, pay attention to the material of the bath. Acrylic surfaces do not tolerate chlorine, gasoline, abrasive particles, so powders and soda are not suitable.
- Too dirty surfaces cannot be cleaned with a wave of a magic wand. A course of activities will be needed.
Children need to be careful with any substances that parents use to treat the surface of the toilet accessory. Soda and vinegar can also cause health problems.
How to clean an old bathtub at home?
You can be generous and purchase ready-made products. The instructions on the label will indicate for which bath and degree of contamination the substance is useful. For systematic treatment, tools that cleanse minor and medium-neglected spots and plaque are suitable:
- “Silit”, “Sif”, “Kommet”, “Domestos” are deservedly popular. They disinfect and return whiteness if the bath was not too dirty.
- For acrylic surfaces, which are found on almost every second bathtub, “Mr. Chister” is useful. There are other remedies as well. Available as sprays and gels.
- The secret to caring for cast iron plumbing is dryness. Only in this way hateful spots will not form in it.
Despite the fact that these household chemicals have passed laboratory tests, are considered safe (provided that the plumbing is thoroughly rinsed and the safety rules are followed while working with it), sometimes home remedies inspire more confidence.
How to clean the bath with improvised means?
It is rare that a hostess in the kitchen does not have soda, vinegar, and ammonia in the medicine cabinet. From these funds can be made a real “weapon” against dirt and bacteria. On average, it will take 15 minutes to process the bath; you may need more than one procedure. But it’s all worth it.
- Baking soda, vinegar, bleach (not for acrylic surfaces). Soda is treated with a moistened bath, leaving for 10 minutes. Then apply a mixture of equal parts vinegar and bleach on top (carefully so as not to get burned). All this is left for half an hour, and then washed off with a sponge.
- Napkins are soaked in vinegar and spread over the entire inner surface of the bath. While the hostess is resting or doing other things, this acid slowly but effectively removes impurities. If the procedure does not give the desired result after half an hour, you can repeat it after a while until the plumbing becomes cleaner.
- Treat the bath with toothpaste, let it stand for a while. The effect will be! A mixture of vinegar and salt has a similar effect.
- Napkins moistened with ammonia (3 tablespoons per 200 ml of water) are also laid out for 10-15 minutes and washed off with water.
In pursuit of the cleanliness of such an important subject of the bathroom, you should not go all out. It is better to replace wires, metal brushes with gentle, but frequent care. Otherwise, you will have to swim in a basin or order new plumbing.
