How to clean a wood, plastic and bristle comb
The comb helps not only to tidy up the hairstyle, but also collects impurities – hairs, particles of keratinized skin, dandruff. Therefore, hairdressers recommend cleaning it at least once a week. Non-observance of the rules for the care of the accessory is reflected in the strands, which get dirty faster and look untidy even after washing.
How to clean dust from a comb?
The hygienic procedure begins with pulling the hairs out, and this should be done after each brushing. Helpful hints:
- the narrower the distance between the teeth, the more difficult it is to do this, so if necessary, you can use a toothpick or needle;
- the easiest way is to remove dust with a vacuum cleaner or rinse the comb in water (if the material is suitable for this);
- You can use a toothbrush, a stiff-bristled brush, or a mascara brush. These tools come in handy when cleaning a round brush.
How to clean a plastic comb?
Plastic is a hygienic material, the most unpretentious to care for. Such a comb gets dirty quickly, but is easily washed off. Helpful hints:
- to maintain cleanliness, it is enough to wash it with soap twice a week;
- the water temperature should not exceed 45 degrees – when heated, the plastic releases toxins;
- how to clean the comb in a “waterless” way? You can simply wipe the product with an alcohol solution or other disinfectant. However, you should not do this more than once a month, as corrosive substances corrode the antistatic coating, reducing the service life of the product.
Combs made of silicone, carbon fiber, ebonite are also unpretentious in care. Metal products are easy to clean, but they must always be thoroughly wiped and dried, otherwise rust will not keep itself waiting long.
How to care for wood and bristle combs?
Combs made from natural materials are considered the safest for hair. Wooden combs perfectly care for strands of any length and structure, do not provoke electrification, do not pull out hairs. The only drawback is that they cannot be washed: upon contact with water, small cracks appear on the wooden surface, damaging the strands. As a result, the hair becomes brittle and splits severely.
Bristle combs do not confuse strands, gently massage the head and evenly distribute sebum along the entire length. But it is difficult to remove all dirt from such products: dust and hairs are firmly held by densely distributed teeth. How to quickly clean a bristle comb? First, it is advisable to soak it for an hour and only then proceed to the procedure, armed with a brush, toothpick or brush.
