How to clean a suit at home – rules, methods, means

A suit is an integral part of the wardrobe of business people. Such clothes should always look well-groomed and tidy, otherwise the status image becomes unconvincing. It is impossible to wash a jacket along with other things: it will certainly be deformed. It can be regularly taken to dry cleaning, the total cost of which sometimes exceeds the cost of the suit. Another solution: clean it at home with the help of available tools and our advice.

Those who know how to clean a suit at home do not have to spend money on expensive dry cleaning.

How to clean a suit at home?

To completely clean a jacket or trousers, you need to spread the clothes on a non-fading cloth, straighten them and brush them with a soft brush. You can buy a special tool designed for things, or you can adapt an old toothbrush (it will take much longer to work with it). You can use an adhesive roller to remove hair, dust or pet hair.

After preparatory measures, the suit is treated with a solution prepared according to the following recipe:

· A tablespoon of ammonia;

· A glass of cold water.

With the resulting composition, you need to process the entire suit. To facilitate the procedure, it is better to use a spray bottle. Wet clothes are hung out for 15-20 minutes, then ironed through cheesecloth. If after this the outfit is not completely dry, it is left in a well-ventilated place in an upright position. Such a scheme is used if there is no strong pollution on the clothes – before cleaning the suit, the stains are first wiped off.

How to clean greasy suit sleeves?

The dirtiest parts of a jacket are usually the sleeves. Affordable and inexpensive products are capable of relieving them of oily gloss:

  • vinegar is diluted with water in a 1: 1 ratio and warms up a little. The resulting solution is rubbed into the dirty area with a sponge or rag. The specific smell disappears quickly, and the thing remains clean and bright;
  • the potatoes are cut into slices, with which the greasy area is rubbed. After processing, the starch remaining from the product is wiped off with a damp cloth;
  • vodka is applied to dirty sleeves with a cotton pad or gauze. After that, the jacket is ironed through a damp cloth.

Dishwashing liquid is another effective aid in the fight against oily gloss. A teaspoon of the product is dissolved in a glass of warm water, and the resulting solution is rubbed into the sleeves with a special brush for clothes. Remove any remaining foam with a clean, dry cloth.
