Cleaning methods depend on how the suede product is stained and how old it is.

For example, how to clean a suede jacket at home, as soon as dirt gets on the product? First of all, clean it off after drying. Then prepare an aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide (take 1 tablespoon of peroxide for ¼ st. Water), rub the stain with a rubber brush or sponge. The same amount of ammonia 10% can replace peroxide.

There are other ways too:

  • a dirty stain can be wiped off with baking soda dissolved in skim milk. At 1 st. milk you need to take 1 tbsp. l. baking soda. Apply the solution to the stain with a special brush, rub in a circular motion, then wipe with a damp, clean cloth. Dry only on a hanger;
  • greasy spots most often appear on the collar, sleeves, next to pockets. They lend themselves well to wet cleaning with a vinegar solution. In ½ st. water dissolve 1 tbsp. l. ordinary 9% vinegar. Soak a cloth napkin with vinegar water and wipe the skin;
  • You can clean the collar of your suede jacket with a soft school eraser. The movements should be the same as when erasing a pencil note from paper;
  • a fresh greasy stain that has appeared on the suede surface can be sprinkled with plenty of salt, and after 3 hours cleaned with a suede brush. Potato starch or talcum powder can be used instead of salt on fair skin. They are excellent at absorbing fat. A good result can be achieved by rolling a bread crumb over a fresh spot;
  • old spots of fat are harder to fight. You can try to remove them with gasoline, but only after preliminary checking on the wrong side of the product.

All methods are simple and do not require much effort. You just need to be patient and not leave the stain for a long time, otherwise the dirt will stick into the fabric, after which it will be much more difficult to wipe it off.

General rules for the care of suede

A suede item requires daily care. It must be cleaned with a special double-sided brush with rubber fibers on one side and stiff bristles on the other.

If the pile is jammed, it should be steamed with an iron or a special steaming device. You can also use a kettle with boiling water.

For cleaning suede products, instead of a brush, it is allowed to use fine-grained sandpaper. For the care of velvety skin, it is advisable to buy special dirt-repellent impregnations and cleansers.

You can cope with dirt on a suede product yourself. If you take care of your skin regularly, a suede jacket will last more than one season and will delight you with its cleanliness and softness.
