The choice of cleaning the beret depends on what material the headpiece is made of. Do not think that you can just wash such a product. Significant nuances are present in every case.

In this case, it all depends on the state of the headdress:
- stains that have a glossy appearance, or scuffs can be removed with a pumice stone, sandpaper. Fine salt, sugar or bran are also suitable, after applying which to the fabric, they are cleaned with a brush with a hard surface;
- an alternative to mechanical treatment is ammonia (diluted in half with water). Wipe the contaminated areas with a cloth soaked in the solution, and then use a dry cloth and a stiff brush. At the end, the beret is dried;
- in the presence of greasy stains, gasoline can be used to remove dirt, and then treated with a solution of ammonia;
- if a light felt headdress is stained with sweat and dust, vinegar mixed equally with ammonia (5 tablespoons each), to which table salt is added in an amount of 1,5 tablespoons, will help to solve the question of how to clean it at home. Cleaning is carried out with a white cloth soaked in a solution, after which it is wiped with a dry material.

It is extremely undesirable to wash such hats, therefore, dry cleaning is carried out using potato starch, with which the hat is rubbed several times and then shaken out well. Another option is to mix a teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of milk. Ammonia diluted with water is also suitable (you need 4 times more water). Elimination of contamination is carried out with a cotton swab soaked in the solution, and then with a cotton pad soaked in clean water.
You should be very careful when cleaning fur berets, as this material is extremely finicky. You can choose one of the following options:
- Oily stains are removed with a solution of a teaspoon of ammonia, 3 tablespoons of salt and 500 ml of water.
- For peeling white fur, as with wool, potato starch is suitable. After removing starch particles, the beret should be combed, straightening the pile.
- Wheat bran, which is poured onto a beret and begins to grind with hands, are well suited for removing contamination. Sifted sawdust can be used.
After the procedure, the fur beret must be given additional shine by slightly moistening the nap with vinegar or glycerin.
