How to choose the right color for the walls
As one wise woman said, choose the wallpaper like this: imagine that you will see them every morning, as soon as you wake up. Doesn’t it feel sick? Then okay, you can take it. And when choosing the color of paint for the walls, you can also listen to designers and psychologists.
Color is very important. It changes the appearance of the dwelling instantly: the wall can be an accent, or it can be a background, create an impression of airiness and spaciousness, or it can crush. We figure out what colors for the walls are considered the most unfortunate.
Red, purple and purple in the bedroom
Even if it’s your favorite color, you don’t need to paint the walls with it in the room where you sleep. In the American journal Emotion, a study was published that states that the color red evokes a powerful physical and emotional response in a person. Often red is also associated with danger, we identify this color with threat.
“This causes concern, concern and anxiety,” – assure the authors of the article. Why do we need anxiety and anxiety in the bedroom? No, don’t do that.
Purple and purple also do not contribute to a quality night’s rest and even provoke nightmares. It is advised to decorate the bedroom in green, blue, yellow and silver tones – people who have such rooms get better sleep.
According to Margaret Portillo, author of Interior Color Planning: An Integrated Approach to Color in Design Spaces, the predominantly white and brightly lit interiors make the eyes tired. In addition, in rooms such as in the operating room, a person experiences psychological discomfort. So that a day in a white interior does not seem endlessly long and tiring, it is recommended to dilute the whiteness of the walls with bright accents.
Perhaps you think that this bright sunny color is what you need. But realtors warn: only if you do not plan to sell the apartment somehow in the future. It turns out that apartments with yellow walls in the kitchen end up being sold for less than expected based on the average market price.
Designers also dissuade the color from blue: they say that in such an environment people tend to overeat. Although, on the contrary, they eat less from dishes of a deep blue color.
Blue or pink in the nursery
It’s not stylish in the first place. And it is not profitable: when the child grows up, he will certainly demand to change the color of the walls from eloquently childish to some older one. By the way, an American website for the provision of services conducted a study: children were asked to draw their dream rooms. The results were quite unexpected and did not always correspond to gender stereotyped styles of design: for boys – blue, girls – pink.
But not any brown, but certain. The dark brown shade of Pantone 448C has long been recognized as the ugliest color in the world. It is so unattractive that it is used to decorate the packaging of potentially harmful goods, such as cigarettes. So this somber shade of brown won’t go anywhere in the house.
