How often do we hear that dried fruits are chemically processed for long-term storage and beautiful color. How to choose such that you are not afraid of your own health?
- First, the right dried fruit will look somewhat unpresentable. Not necessarily dirty, but the unequal shape and dull color of a natural product will lose out to their “chemically” counterparts.
- Secondly, high-quality dried fruits do not shine. This means they are not rubbed with oils to attract customers.
- And thirdly, dried fruits should not be too soft or, on the contrary, overdried and hard, otherwise they are simply not properly dried.
So, take the pale dried apricots, give preference to raisins with tails, dates with non-peeling peels, matte in appearance. Make sure that the prunes are whole, not torn or too soft, they should not stick together and smell like nothing but plums.
