How to choose grenades

Picking a ripe pomegranate fruit without opening it is more difficult than many other fruits. There is even an opinion that this process is akin to a lottery – lucky or unlucky. And yet there are some signs and patterns.

1. In the East they say that there should be a pomegranate dry on the outside and juicy on the inside… This means that a ripe fruit has a slightly dried crust and (attention!) Seems to tighten the grains. This is important, because the pomegranate can dry out from lying for a long time, but then there will not be this very tight-fitting effect, because the grains dry out along with the peel.

2. If the crust is smooth and not dried, which means that the pomegranate was plucked from the tree before it had time to ripen. Its seeds may already be red in color, but red, in this case, does not mean “sweet”.

3. Look in the place where the pomegranate had a flower: there should not be anything green in a ripe fruit.

4. A quality grenade should be firm to the touch… If it is soft, it means that it was damaged: beaten on the road, frostbitten or rotted. It is unlikely that he will be able to give you pleasure and benefit.
