How to choose cane sugar

In pursuit of a healthy lifestyle, we increasingly pay attention to superfoods and try to include them in our diet. One of these is cane sugar. Unfortunately, buying this sweet product can spoil your health. The fact is that it is difficult to find real cane sugar in a store – it is often counterfeited, coloring ordinary sugar and passing it off as cane sugar, since the latter is many times more expensive. Here are some tips on how to buy real, healthy cane sugar:

1. The packaging should indicate that the sugar is unrefined, and not just the words “dark brown” or “light brown sugar”, “dark”, etc., which say absolutely nothing.

2. If sugar is really cane and unrefined, then it has a strong specific aroma, unique taste and color.

3. Unrefined cane sugar must have crystals of various sizes, otherwise they have been processed.

4. Such sugar must be sticky – this is due to the presence of molasses. If the sugar pours well, then it is a fake.

5. Take a small amount of unrefined cane sugar and pour it into clean water without stirring. If this is not a fake, then the color of the water will not change, and vice versa, if it becomes stained, then the manufacturer is selling a fake.

6. The darker the sugar, the more cane molasses in it, and therefore the more nutrients.
