A concealer is a means for spot masking small skin imperfections. The choice of concealer should be approached very carefully, as a mistake will lead to the fact that the problems of the face that you are trying to hide will become even more noticeable.
How to choose a concealer
- pencil – a concealer with a dense structure, which is suitable for masking freckles, age spots, pimples and spider veins. These concealers are often antibacterial and can help heal and dry pimples. Although, of course, their main task is retouching, not treatment.
- liquid concealer – applied to the delicate skin around the eyes and lips, helps to hide fine wrinkles. Hard and loose concealers should not be used on these areas of the face, as they will only accentuate and aggravate the problem.
- stick – hides post-acne scars well, but is not suitable for masking fine wrinkles.
- friable – resembles friable powder, applied with a special brush included in the kit. This concealer dries out the skin and should not be applied to the eye area.
Some loose concealers contain reflective particles. They refresh the skin well, however, they can emphasize pronounced problems.
- palette – a set of colored concealers, reminiscent of a set of eyeshadows, serves to even out the complexion.
Use a concealer or corrector for the face only on cleansed and moisturized skin. A light moisturizer can be applied to the area around the eyes; face, neck and décolleté – spray with mineral water from a spray bottle. If you’re going to cover up minor blemishes, the tone of the concealer should match your skin tone exactly.
Apply concealer on pimples and age spots with a brush, then lightly blend the edges without rubbing the product into the skin. To hide scars and dents in the skin, use a brush to fill them in with liquid concealer without rubbing. On top of this concealer, apply foundation or foundation. Likewise, you can hide fine lines by using a reflective concealer.
To hide under eye circles, choose a liquid concealer 1-2 tones lighter than your skin and apply it with a brush pointwise to the inner and outer corners of the eye and in the middle of the eyelid. Gently blend the product with a brush or fingertips and lightly powder the area.
If you prefer to blend the concealer with your fingers, warm them up before the procedure – the result will be better.
Be sure to wash your hands and brushes before the procedure. Never try to hide fresh scratches and open wounds with concealer – this can lead to inflammation.
With the help of a green concealer, you can hide reddened areas of the skin – emerging capillaries, small pimples, reddish circles around the eyes.
- A yellow concealer will help hide the purple-hued shadows that appear under the eyes from fatigue.
- The blue concealer masks age spots, bright freckles, rosacea and sunburned skin.
- Orange is used if you want to hide greenish veins under the eyes and old bruises.
- Lavender (lilac) concealer neutralizes yellow spots. It can also help soften uneven tanning.
- The pink concealer helps to hide the grayish tinge of tired skin and refreshes it.
