In the summer heat, eating a chilled, juicy and sweet watermelon is the ultimate pleasure. But here’s how to buy a ripe watermelon, because not every seller will cut the berry to demonstrate its ripeness.
We have collected several hacks that will make this task easier and help you make the right choice!
- Of the total number of watermelons that will be in front of you, pay your attention to medium-sized berries, and also remember – a good watermelon will always be heavy;
- Pay attention to the spot, the place where the watermelon touched the ground. The speck should be dark yellow, the light color of the spot indicates that the watermelon is not yet ripe;
- The stalk (tail) will also tell about ripeness, a dried tail – a ripe berry, a green tail – a watermelon was picked early;
- Watermelon girls are sweeter! Berries-girls have a more rounded shape, and on the opposite side of the tail they have a wide dot-circle. Boys are more elongated and have a small dot;
- Tap on the watermelon, a ripe watermelon will give a ringing sound. And if you pick up a watermelon and squeeze, then from a ripe berry you will hear crackling.
Delicious watermelons for you!
