How to choose a pumpkin

The pumpkin season is in full swing, the abundance of shapes and colors of this vegetable is simply amazing. However, there are some rules to keep in mind when choosing a pumpkin, as appearances can be deceiving. So:

– The main indicator of a ripe pumpkin is a dried stalk, this pumpkin is guaranteed to be ripe and suitable for consumption on the same day. If you need a pumpkin in reserve, it is better to choose a fruit with an even green stalk, such a pumpkin will lie and will not deteriorate for several weeks and will ripen during storage;

– Choose fruits of medium size, up to 5 kg, for such a pumpkin the pulp will be tasty, soft and not too watery;

– The color of the pumpkin pulp has nothing to do with the color of the peel, so be guided by the cut fruit;

– The skin of a good pumpkin is dense, but not wooden, if you press on it with your fingernail, then the skin of a ripe pumpkin will not be sold;

– If you come across a fruit with a natural wax bloom, you can be sure that such a pumpkin will be stored much longer;

– It is better not to buy peeled and chopped pumpkin, you risk purchasing an already spoiled product. But, if the whole fruit is not included in your plans, ask to cut the pumpkin with you.
