Choosing a mattress is a real challenge. We make a purchase once in a long time, so we should consider each of the advantages of different types of mattresses and find out what to consider when choosing them. So what to look for when choosing a mattress? How to choose a mattress that will be good for our sleep and the spine?
Choosing a mattress – what to consider?
When choosing a mattress, the weight and structure of our body are very important. The position in which we sleep is also important, as well as the spine diseases we suffer from. People with back problems should consult their doctor in order to choose a mattress that will reduce the discomfort and, above all, will not make it worse. Unfortunately, an incorrectly selected mattress can contribute to increasing health problems.
People who have a problem with allergies should also choose a mattress that will be suitable for allergy sufferers. In this case, the material from which the mattress is made is important. It should not absorb dust and be a refuge for mites.
When choosing a mattress, it should be remembered that the determinants that are appropriate for our spine do not always go hand in hand with individual preferences. A hard mattress may not be suitable for someone who just sleeps well in a slightly softer mattress and vice versa. Therefore, choosing a mattress that is good for sleep and spine is not the easiest thing to do, and it is worth considering many options to find the one that suits your posture and preferences.
When we are faced with the choice of buying a new mattress, it is worth checking what design will be suitable for us.

Choosing a mattress – a spring mattress
Spring mattresses are among the most popular, but over the years, the technology of their production has changed a lot. Currently, we have a choice of many types of spring mattresses, differing in the number of springs and the number of layers in a given model.
Pocket mattresses they are made on the basis of springs which are connected to each other by a thin fabric bag. Thanks to this, the spring mattress gives a lot of elastic points that are adequate support for the spine. It is worth emphasizing that the more springs a given mattress has, the more points there are to support our body, and thus the sleeping comfort is much higher.
Choosing a mattress – latex mattresses
Latex mattresses are made of a combination of synthetic latex with milk of a rubber tree. It should be remembered that latex is much harder, but also adapts very well to the shape of our body. It also guarantees a very high comfort of use.
Latex mattresses have antibacterial and antifungal propertiesbecause they have a system of internal holes that maintain constant air circulation. Therefore, this type of mattress will work well for people with allergies.
The latex mattress, due to the fact that it adapts to the shape of the body, may not be to everyone’s taste. Some people may feel as if they are sinking into the mattress, making them feel uncomfortable.
Choosing a mattress – a foam mattress
Polyurethane foam mattresses are available in a thermoelastic and highly flexible version. The first type becomes more flexible with increasing temperature. In addition, they conform to the shape of the body and provide adequate support for the spine. Highly resilient foam mattresses they are more flexible and have a much longer service life.
However, when choosing a foam mattress, it is worth paying attention to the quality and type of polyurethane foam. Not every wetsuit has the same durability.
The choice of a mattress and its hardness
The hardness of the mattress is a very individual matter. Each of us can feel different mattress hardness depending on its type. It depends on the structure and weight of our body. However, we can specify which types of mattress are softer and which are harder.
The foam mattresses will therefore be the softest. Spring mattresses are medium-hard, and latex mattresses are the hardest. However, as mentioned at the beginning, the firmness of the mattress can be relative. For a lighter person, however, a medium-hard mattress may turn out to be too hard, and a person with a higher weight will simply sink into it. That’s why it’s worth it try the mattress – lie on it and check that its hardness is suitable for us.
