How to choose a duvet, reviews
Judging by consumer reviews, the duvet has excellent warming properties. But if the product is of poor quality, then the purchase will not please. When choosing a blanket, it is advisable to know what to look for.
Goose down is used for the production of blankets. The raw material is durable and inexpensive, has excellent heat-conducting qualities. However, duck down blankets quickly deteriorate as the filler falls off. The most valuable blankets are made of eider down, but their price is quite high.
When choosing blankets, you should pay attention to the markings of the tags and numbers.
- Fill Power – the index shows the degree of feather elasticity. The higher the number, the better the product is. The lower limit of the index is 500 units.
- 95/5 – fractional numbers show the percentage of feathers in down. The first number indicates the amount of down, and the second indicates the amount of feathers. A small amount of feathers is allowed in the composition of the blanket, which gives it elasticity and does not affect softness. The maximum allowable value is 15%.
- Nomite – the mark indicates that the product is of European quality. In the production we used refined down, the product is hypoallergenic.
- Weight – the maximum allowable weight of the blanket is 800 g. If the figure exceeds this value, then the filler contains a lot of feathers.
- Warmth class – blankets are divided into summer, demi-season and warm.
It is important to pay attention to what the product cover is made of. It should be breathable, soft and light.
Blankets made from natural silk are expensive but durable. No less high quality products from other natural fabrics.
The undoubted advantage of blankets is their quality. Down goes through several stages of processing, which increases its wear resistance.
The pluses of blankets include:
- comfort. Products are delicate and pleasant to the touch;
- air permeability;
- thermoregulation. The blanket provides a comfortable temperature, it will not be hot or cold under it;
- durability. Over the years, the blanket remains fluffy and does not lose its properties.
In addition, it is recommended to change any blanket every five years, but a down product will last much longer.
But in addition to the advantages, blankets have some disadvantages. They need special cleaning, the price is always high, and the filler is a good environment for dust mites and fungi.
Quality duvets will give you a feeling of comfort and coziness. Choose a product that meets all standards as much as possible, contains enough fluff and is treated from mites.
