How to choose a dry mix for baking and bring it to mind

I would like to say right away that we do not propose to compare completely home-made baked goods with baked goods made from a dry mix. Of course they are different. We have a little distanced ourselves from homemade products, “forgot” their taste and just evaluate the product without any comparisons. So,

1. Do not rely on packaging photos. All you get is the simplest crust or portioned baked goods, in the case of a muffin. All those magnificent confectionery masterpieces that the manufacturer presents to you on the packaging will require additional efforts, expenses and skill from you. The photographs show only the “serving method”. Therefore, we recommend choosing dry muffin mixes… For these products – bringing them to mind and final serving – you need a minimum: icing or icing.

2. Pay attention to the list of ingredients. The fewer the better. Very often, nuts and raisins are already included in the mixture. If you have a choice, buy a dry blank without them. Usually these ingredients are not very good quality and are very dry. If you want to add something to the dough, buy such natural flavors yourself.

3. Give preference to mixtures from a reputable manufacturer. It is especially good if this manufacturer produces ready-made baked goods and can be bought and tasted. Satisfied with her taste, it means there is a high probability that dry mixes will be of quite decent quality.

4. If the package says: “”, add milk better. It will improve the taste, reduce the salinity of the dough, help to get a homogeneous crumb, with small bubbles and increase the softness of the crust.

If you need to add oil, for moist and soft, but firm crumb, use vegetable, for fluffy – creamy… By the way, oil also affects the color of the baked goods, giving it a golden yellow color.

5. If the ingredients say “”, then the top crust of the pastry you will most likely get brown and brown, so do not overexpose the product in the oven.

6. As much as you might be tempted to add baking soda or baking powder, don’t do it. There are definitely enough ingredients for raising the dough in such mixtures.
