The COVID-19 coronavirus continues to spread rapidly. Information about new infected patients appears every day. However, what about people who may have had COVID-19 disease asymptomatically? Is there a way to check this? This question was asked by dr hab. n. med. Tomasz Dzieśćtkowski, a virologist from the Medical University of Warsaw.
The COVID-19 coronavirus can be caught directly from a person who has the characteristic symptoms of the disease during a short conversation, because the transmission is via droplets. Coronavirus is transmitted by coughing or sneezing, which is why it is so important for sick people to wear a protective mask against saliva droplets.
In addition, the COVID-19 coronavirus may be active on flat surfaces for several hours (up to several days) – its activity, however, is affected by the degree of humidity and temperature.

Any infection, including COVID-19, will leave traces in the body in the form of produced antibodies to protect against coronavirus infection. Dr hab. n. med. Tomasz Dzieciatkowski admitted, however, that at the moment we do not have such kits on the pharmaceutical market that could reliably detect these antibodies.
