So that caring for rubber boots does not turn into a daily torment, they must be properly and carefully stored. Typically, these shoes are required in the fall or early spring. The rest of the time, rubber boots are recommended to be kept in a closed cabinet, away from direct sunlight.

It is undesirable to place rubber boots next to mothballs, from which the rubber loses its appearance, and sometimes even cracks

It is advisable to immediately purchase those models that do not exude a specific smell and in which the leg has the ability to breathe. It is not uncommon to find boots in which rubber is combined with some other materials, such as suede, textiles or leather. Such boots look very original, but when caring for such shoes, you need to take into account not only the properties of rubber, but also the features of other specific materials used as inserts.

In branded shoe stores, you can find special napkins made of microfiber or soft flannel. They are ideal for the daily care of fashionable rubber shoes. After wiping the surface of the boots with such napkins, it is recommended to dry the shoes at room temperature.

Under no circumstances should rubber boots be dried by placing them on a heating radiator. Otherwise, the rubber surface will be covered with microcracks, and the boots will lose elasticity.

How to clean rubber boots

In order for the rubber boots you like to retain their original attractive appearance as long as possible, they should be washed with exceptionally warm water with a small addition of vegetable oil. Sometimes, instead of oil for cleaning white boots, it is recommended to use a glycerin solution. After washing, wipe the boots dry with a clean cotton cloth.

It is recommended to clean colored rubber boots with petroleum jelly, so that the rubber does not tarnish and retains its original shine.

Pay special attention to the outsole. Do not wipe light or white soles with a damp cloth, as this may damage the structure of the material. It is best to use a hard eraser for cleaning the sole, designed to remove marks from a pencil or fountain pen.

If your favorite rubber boots have lost their shine and began to fade, try restoring the rubber properties with oil varnish and a small amount of rubber glue. At the same time, the color of the boots becomes more saturated and lasts for a long time.
