Nubuck is a luxurious, but at the same time very moody material. Nubuck boots look great on the foot and are suitable for any style. But in order to preserve shoes made of this material in the Russian climate, you need to know how to care for them.
General rules for the use of nubuck boots
In order for the boots to serve faithfully, you need to take into account some of the features of nubuck.
- Shoes made of natural nubuck, obtained from cattle skins, are particularly tender and soft. But it is recommended to wear it only in dry or frosty weather. For the slush of the off-season, artificial nubuck made from compressed polymer fibers is better suited. Such material is able to retain its shape and color for a long time.
- For severe frosts, it is advisable to choose natural nubuck: it retains heat better.
- On the surface of nubuck, there are almost no traces of salt and reagents, which are sprinkled on city streets on ice. In this, nubuck winter boots have a big advantage over leather and suede.
The cleaner the outside, the longer the nubuck shoes last. If you often walk on a country road, actively relax in nature, or have to walk through puddles and muddy streets every day, nubuck is not your material. It is better to purchase more democratic shoes for these purposes.

There are several rules for caring for nubuck that will help keep the boots presentable for a long time. Here they are:
- along with nubuck shoes, you need to buy a special brush, a set of water-repellent sprays and impregnations;
- You can remove small and fresh dirt from nubuck with a special hard eraser. As a rule, it comes with a rubber brush for cleaning delicate shoes;
- the cleaning brush must be dry. Boots are moistened with water only to remove visible salt deposits. For these purposes, the napkin is soaked in water. For greater efficiency, it is recommended to use a special shampoo for nubuck and suede products;
- after cleaning, the boots are recommended to be treated with a special impregnation spray. It is water and dirt repellent and retains the color of the shoe.
For used shoes with traces of dirt that cannot be removed, spray paint is recommended. It not only helps to get rid of stains, but also restores the original color.
Despite the demand for care, nubuck boots have many advantages. They are unusually beautiful, pleasant to the touch, allow the foot to breathe and keep warm even in the most severe frosts.
