How to brew green tea for weight loss

This dramatically reduces the beneficial properties of the drink.

Green tea is adored all over the world: it contains many useful substances that have a wonderful ability to invigorate, relieve stress, and even help to lose weight. In addition, this drink is good for brain activity, for the heart, contains antioxidants that preserve youth. In general, a miracle tea, which is adored by both stars and mere mortals. But all this benefit can be reduced, if not to zero, then halved if green tea is brewed incorrectly.

We are now not talking about the temperature of the water to be poured over the tea leaves – by the way, it should be no more than 80 degrees. We are about water in general.

British scientists (and who else, because the British are true connoisseurs of tea) conducted an experiment in which tea was brewed with tap water and bottled water. About a hundred volunteers were invited to taste it. They did not feel any difference in black tea, but green tea tasted better if it was prepared with tap water. “It’s sweeter,” the tasters said. But at the same time, it turned out that the benefits of such tea were several times less: the amount of catechins, that is, those very magic antioxidants, dropped dramatically.

Researchers believe that this is due to the increased content of calcium, magnesium and iron in tap water – after all, bottled water is filtered and the content of minerals and trace elements in it is strictly regulated. Therefore, bottled water is more effective in extracting catechins from tea.

“If you want green tea to be really healthy – brew it in filtered water”, – makes a conclusion Professor Robin Dando, one of the study authors.
