How physical activity is good for our psyche

We have all heard more than once that physical activity adds energy and helps to lose weight. Of course, this is true. But beyond that, they also benefit mental health and well-being, and can change our lives for the better.

Many people would rather lie on the couch than put on their running shoes, go to the gym and do 45 minutes of physical exercise. Well, if you think about the fact that by spending this time on sports, we not only keep ourselves in shape, but also fight depression and anxiety? That’s what physical activity does.

1. HELP YOU LOSE WEIGHT

When we are satisfied with our body, we feel better psychologically. This helps keep you motivated to exercise and boosts your self-confidence and self-esteem.

2. IMPROVE YOUR MOOD

Want to unwind after a hard day? Do not rush to pour a glass of wine. Physical activity is much more effective in improving mood. It doesn’t have to be a long and exhausting workout.

Physical activity releases hormones that make you feel relaxed and calm.

3. ADD ENERGY

It’s only midday and you’re already tired? Regular physical activity improves stamina. It enhances the supply of oxygen and nutrients to tissues and improves the functioning of the cardiovascular system. Due to the fact that the heart and lungs work more efficiently, you feel more strength and energy.

4. IMPROVE SLEEP

Can’t sleep at all? Physical activity makes it easier to fall asleep and promote deeper and better sleep. This, in turn, will not be slow to affect the mood – after all, we know how gloomy and gloomy we can be if we can’t get enough sleep (and for most it takes at least 8 hours).

5. ALLOW YOU TO DISCONNECT FROM UNPLEASANT THOUGHTS

In our free time, when there is nothing to do, we run the risk of obsessing over unpleasant thoughts. Playing sports motivates you to get out of the house and distract from the whirlwind of thoughts – and therefore, redirect your thinking in a more positive direction.

6. HELP YOU FIGHT STRESS

Many tend to relieve stress caused by life’s difficulties with the help of alcohol, TV, food. All these methods are ultimately ineffective and often only exacerbate existing problems. Physical activity is a much healthier way to deal with stress, depression, and anxiety.

7. CONTRIBUTE TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF “HORMONES OF JOY”

Exercise releases endorphins, which help fight depression and have a calming effect.

It is always difficult to take the first step and establish a regimen for exercising. However, if you suffer from depression or anxiety disorders, then you are probably ready to try anything that can relieve you of unpleasant symptoms.

Sports and physical activity are a great way to improve your well-being, improve your health and have fun. It is advisable to devote at least 45 minutes a day to classes or set aside time for 5 hour workouts per week. Before starting classes, it is worth consulting with your doctor, especially if you have health problems.
