How ordinary paint transforms old furniture: before and after photos

A young mother managed to make a business on shabby chairs and dressers: sitting on maternity leave, she earns a lot of money, turning junk into stylish interior items.

Now, who has nowhere to put energy: 25-year-old Maggie, barely becoming a mother, desperately bored sitting at home with her child. The kid did not cause much trouble, you do not need to go to work – well, do not sit idly by! And Maggie found herself a job that not only cured of boredom, but also became a source of stable income – the young mother even quit her job.

It all started with an old wooden bread bin. Maggie bought it for a pittance at a thrift store, brought it home, sanded it, and painted it. She liked the result so much that Maggie decided to try to restore something else.

“I fell in love with this job. At first I asked my friends for advice, but for the most part I learned everything myself. The best teacher is experience, practice, says Maggie. “Besides, we just bought a house recently, and I wanted to save money on furniture – a new one costs crazy money.”

Now Maggie buys furniture battered by life at garage sales, or even takes it away for free – the owners are happy to get rid of the old trash, if only someone took it away. He finds some objects on the street. For example, she picked up a luxurious wooden bedside table by the side of the road.

A little effort, patience – and the next masterpiece is ready. The girl puts up the updated things for sale, rescuing from 50 to 300 dollars from each “craft”.

“I fix doors, drawers, patch up scratches and chips, grind things and repaint. Sometimes it takes 15 minutes, and sometimes it takes several hours, ”says the blogger. Yes, now Maggie also has a blog, to which more than 160 thousand people have already subscribed.

“Want to try? Just do it! Start simple – just paint the item white. And then complicate each next project, learn through trial and error. Mistakes are what makes us better, ”the girl is sure.

Sometimes a little imagination does not hurt: for example, Maggie turned an old TV into a stylish pet house. Unusual fittings, bold color schemes – just don’t be afraid to let your inner artist run wild.

The brave mom now has clients who ask her to find something especially for them, and no one is embarrassed that this furniture has already seen a lot in its lifetime. After all, it looks like new! In addition, no one will have another such table or bedside table.

By the way, not only repair, painting and reconstruction can transform things. Even simple washing can do wonders. Don’t believe me? The examples in our photo gallery speak for themselves – scroll through!
